The hospital going to try to get me going tomorrow. I will be 40+4 but dp is away offshore next tuesday for 5 weeks so they have agreed to try a bit earlier than usual. But will not go any further (eg drips etc) till next week.
Has this worked for anyone? And what should I expect?
Thanks

It sort of worked for me but then ended up having additional interventions to speed things along as DS wasn't doing very well.

If you are pretty much ready to go into labour (and at 40+ 5 then you probably well be) then it should set you off like a rocket :o

Yep all I needed was the gels. First time at 39 weeks and second time at 38 weeks, if your body is ready you'll be fine. My waters went by themselves and had no need for the drip Smile good luck!

Thanks. Fingers crossed it should work out then. Will update with baby news tomorrow/Thursday hopefully x

Just had a phone call from the hospital. They can't do it tomorrow, too many inductions for medical reasons. Will be Friday Sad

Ah, at least it will be before he leaves? I had one set of the gel and went into labour after a couple of hours. You never know it might happen naturally before then, find yourself a ball to bounce on Grin. Good luck!

Worked first time for me (was 41+5 though!). No drips or further interventions, just a straightforward vb on gas and air.

Good luck Smile

It worked for me but I was 40+6, waters gone & was contracting irregularly. Within 30 mins I'd gone from contracting every 15 minutes to every 7. It was given at 10.30 & DS2 was born at 3.25.

It is very hit & miss though; the woman in the bed next to me on antenatal was induced about 2 hours after me and was still up on the ward at 11pm that evening.

Oh and no intervention, just TENS for pain relief & uncomplicated vaginal birth aside from DS2 being undiagnosed breech Grin
