That is all you need to do, when I was pregnant 32 years ago I had kittens/cats and wasn't even aware that there could be a problem, as long as you are hygenic enjoy the kittens, nothing better for destressing :)

I was told that you can acquire immunity to toxoplasmosis if you have lived with a cat for a long time. We've always had a cat in the house and its never been a problem for me. Rubber gloves and hand washing should be fine. Just be careful if the kittens get the runs!

The odds are seriously high that you have had it already & can't get it again.
The kittens won't have it, mamacat poo will have it, mama will have caught it from things she's caught & eaten, esp. birds. It doesn't transmit between cats, or so I understand.

I asked my doctor for a toxoplasmosis test when I found out I was pg. I am however not immune, even though I've had my cats for 4years. Maybe go get a test done?

I figure if I've not had it yet, my chances of getting it are low. Either my cats don't have it (they're not great hunters) or my hygiene is good enough I've avoided getting it. Be sensible, wash your hands properly, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

If the kittens are still tiny and not going outside then it's fine. Cats contract toxo by picking it up from their prey, so if there's no prey yet then you're fine. They also only do dangerous poos for about a week after catching it, so the chances of getting it are slight. Just be careful and hygienic and you'll be fine.

Ps I've had cats for 10 years, was an archaeologist so lots of grubbing round in the earth and am now living on a sheep farm and I'm not immune.

Thanks all.. my doc didn't seem concerned just said don't eat cat poo and laughed ob not a high chance of contracting it if your clean and sensible! Will talk to m w when im further along. :)
