40+2 reduced movements but still moving

I'm 40+2 with dc2, since yesterday baby has decreased his movements, normally strong kicks and rolls, but just the odd ripple now, couple of movements after cold juice, not much overnight. Am not used to being overdue as ds1 was born on due date. I'm feeling really emotional and am over thinking things, everyone keeps asking if I'm having niggles, I feel no different apart from baby quietening down. He's still moving though, just less. I'm worried if I call mw's they might see me as high risk if I am concerned and that may be the end of my homebirth plans. Can anyone offer reassurance?

Go in to day assessment or call MW. This is about your baby's health not your ideal birth plans (which may not even be affected). Your baby could be in trouble. It probably isn't, but it could be.

Please go in or call the midwives now.

You need to get checked, it might be nothing but at the end of the day what's more important your planned homebirth or a live baby? Please go get checked.

This really is the time to talk to the midwives they are the experts.
They will probably ask you to go to hospital for you and the baby to be checked over and his/her movements monitored properly.

Call or go NOW! I beg of you!

I won't go into scary details for why, just call at the very least.

Begging over!

I have been in, thanks very much for the kick I needed. Baby is fine, monitored for half an hour, no movements at first but he got going after 20 mins so feeling reassured. I appreciate the support, thanks.

this interested me because I was wondering why everyone was worried. Id of thought movement would have slowed near the end cos of lack of room. What else could it of been? pls let me know so I can know when im nearer the time x

Glad everything was OK downby Smile

lora a sudden decrease or increase in the amount of movement you are used to is a sign that your baby may be in distress (or the might just be having a sleepy day) but you should always get it checked out incase they need help. hth

I now understand that any change in normal movements should be looked into. The mw at hospital was lovely and told me that any concerns should be raised and assessed. I guess I've had about 15% of normal movement in last 24hrs and just feel reassured that they have confirmed heart rate is fine. I had become quietly worked up about it which isn't what I need right now so really pleased with the advice to get this looked at. Panic over, back to being relaxed and in control hopefully!

X-post, thanks strawberry. I think baby has been sleepy here.
