Maybe just use it in cooking. Or just remind yourself that many don't know this early and eat it :)

pingdriver · 12/06/2012 20:06

yep. Stilton is on the allowable list throughout pregnancy!

marshmallow2468 · 12/06/2012 20:06

I thought stilton was OK as it's classed as a hard cheese. I'm kind of banking on it being OK! I can't give up all cheese!

mamaLou13 · 12/06/2012 20:08

No i am quite sure stilton was a no no in 2010 anyway when i was pregnant with dd, as it is blue cheese. I am desparate for stilton, acin and mushroom stuffed peppers with steak.

AnaisB · 12/06/2012 20:10

Stilton is allowed (as off 2011 I think).

Kelbells · 12/06/2012 20:12

Allowed!! The rules keep changing Smile Congratulations!!!!!

terrywoganstrousers · 12/06/2012 20:15

Stilton isn't allowed raw according to my midwife but if you are cooking it as in a stuffed pepper or a soup you will be fine.
And make sure you cook the steak all the way through!

mamaLou13 · 12/06/2012 20:16

OOOOHH! great! It is silly really how often the rues are changing but i shall stick to the new ones (happily)! Thank you for the congrats!

'tis a hard cheese.

I eat TONNESSSSSSSS of the stuff....

Velo · 12/06/2012 20:18

Pretty sure Stilton is not allowed (at least it wasn't in April 2012 when my family were googling it at the dinner table cause we had a big fat slab of stilton and I was convinced that it was allowed - it wasn't).

You could always cook it and have it will a sauce over your well cooked stake!

BBisTitanium · 12/06/2012 20:18

Im 10 weeks just recently seen MW and was told all blue cheese inc stilton not allowed unless cooked with , blue cheese quiche ok for example, but its to do with the bacteria which makes it blue and listeria. Its totally up to you though.

mamaLou13 · 12/06/2012 20:29

I am going to be putting it in a pepper then roasting it in the oven.... Oh crap and i have to have stea well done now!! )o:

BikeRunSki · 12/06/2012 20:42

Stilton is allowed! I ate a big chunk at a buffet when I thought I might be second time pg last year, but had not done a test. I thought that I might as well since I wouldn't be allowed soon. BFP a few days later, then discovered that Stilton was ok now after all.

BuntyCollocks · 12/06/2012 21:00

You're allowed rare steak. The harmful bacteria are on the outside and are therefore cooked off when the steak is cooked. As long as its brown on the outside it's fine. Also been told in one of my threads that Stilton is ok, and blue cheese is fine if cooked generally.

Daisybell1 · 12/06/2012 21:03

Stilton is now ok, as of October-ish last year (dd born in September - cheers NHS!), but the latest advice is to avoid rare meat. They've withdrawn their earlier advice saying it's ok whilst they investigate the possible link with toxo.
