I am 40+3 today, I have been to see MW this morning and due to having a show and cramps and backache for last few days they did a sweep. I'm 1cm dilated so things are happenning but I just wondered if anyone can tell me how long it's going to take to get in to 'real' labour? I'm presuming it can't be too far off but there was talk of induction today (for next week) but I would rather it all happen naturally! I am drinking RLT, having sex, eating pineapple, bouncing on a birthing ball and planning a hot cury tonight!!

I'm 2cm and 35 weeks, so may not mean I'm,intent birth, sorry. If this is your first baby could be awhile yet. I've also lost my plug a couple of weeks ago.

Torture waiting isn't it?! My induction lasted a whole week in hosp on the gels and syntocin etc and I only got to 4cm before they did EMCS. Sweeps don't always work but you've got a better chance being overdue. My DD was induced at 38 weeks because if PE. Keep us posted...

And you need to eat something like 7 pineapples a day for that to help. That might rock your boat, but I figured I'd be on the loo for hours so I didn't bother!!

Just in case it hasn't happened yet, OP, GOOD LUCK!! Let us know how you get along!

Advice please :) ftm! Had 8 hours of regular contractions yesterday which started 10 mins apart and ended 3/4 mins apart, went to be assessed and wasn't quite 1cm dilated but cervix was completely thinned out and nearly 1cm. They sent me home with dihydrocodeine so I could sleep through contractions which didn't work until about 3am, am taking paracetamol now and is definitely helping to ease the pain.. A bath has helped slow things down a bit but I don't really want that to happen! Any advice on keeping contractions/dilation going? And how long it will be before I'm around 3/4cm dilated? Thank you :) sorry for long post!

I am 26 weeks today and I have been 1cm dilated for 2 days now. I have been having contractions and have been in the hospital on bed rest for day 3 now. This is my first child so I'm not familiar as to if I will have my baby early or if he will come on time. Please comment if you have any info. Thank you.

This thread is four years old, probably better to start your own.
