Am i pregnant ?? So not planning to be! I have 2 DDs - 5 and 8. My DH and I are very happy with our 2 daughters and life has moved onto the golden age of childhood. But our contraception can only be described as "winging it" :) I'm 5 days late with my period. Just done a test and there is a faint pink line in the test window. Am in a state of shock. Part of me is pleased but part of is "OH NO!". My friend has just had her 3rd and has been recommending it to me but I keep saying "Im too old, we can't afford it, I'm just getting career back on track, I like this age the girls are at and don't want to go back to the baby stage". Guess I might have to eat my words.

This really is a pouring out of my feelings. MY DH is away on business till tomorrow night and I don't want to distract him while he's away. And not for telling anyone else till I'm certain. Oh help, this is so not what I was planning for my 38th birthday next week. My 2 previous pregnancies were 9 months of nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and exhaustion. Maybe this one will be different, if I am. Oh help, Ive given away ALL my baby stuff - pram, cot, clothes, steriliser, breast pump, changing mat, toys!!

Can i have some advice or just words?!?!

Carries-that is fantastic! I told dh tues evening and he was much happier than I expected him to be! He is worried about how everything will work out (finances, holidays etc) but that is just how he is! I just hope everything goes smoothly now (fingers crossed)! We're off to Disneyland Paris on monday for 5 days.....sucks a bit that I won't be able to go on a lot of the good rides, but I don't want to risk anything. Should I ring gp/midwife before we go or wait til we get back?

I found out I was pregnant with dc3 when my youngest was 13 months old, I had only been back at work a couple of months! He wasent planned and a complete shock as my other 2 took over a year to conceive, so typically the only 1 time we werent careful it happened!
I'm 30 weeks now and still thinking about it compleatly shocks me! We are just coasting along with the thought of well he's coming now deal with it! and my heads still in December when we found out :)

Tired mule - I would hand in a sample so doc can confirm pregnancy. My health centre doesn't make midwife appt till 8 weeks. Have fun at Disneyland, we're going to landmark in highlands in October - nor rides for me :(. Miaboo - congrats but I know the feeling of shock. And I thought we were being careful :/ guess not :)

Carries-really?!!! I didn't do that with either of my dds! I remember being shocked the first time-I went in thinking I was ill and the dr said I think you're pregnant.....go away and buy a test and then tell us the result! Maybe i'll ring in the morning just to check, but there is no mistaking the test-it was a digital one and it said Pregnant 2-3wks.

I have just posted my own thread on having an unexpected postitive preg test with baby number 3, asking for reassurance, and got no replies, so is it ok if I crash your thread Carries ?
My youngest is just 14 months and I have a 4yr old dd. Just like miaboo my other 2 took >1yr to conceive so I stupidly assumed I wouldn't get pregnant, (idiot). I did a preg test today after realising my period was 2 days late and having really sore boobs, and seeing that faint line was a huge shock. Shock

I am going to do another test tomorrow morning. Told DH the news and he is pretty lost for words, other than telling me we will need to buy a bigger car Grin

How funny JenAT thats pretty much what my husband said!
My eldest will be 5 and half, and my other ds will be 21 months when this ones born, and this one is another boy so I'll have 3 boys!!
This pregnancy has gone very quick though, think with having the other 2 to look after kind of makes you forget it alittle which sometimes makes me sad like I'm missing out on the pregnancy, so get organised early on! :)

JenAT - crash away! you're very welcome. I need fellow mums in shock! In some ways this is more shocking than the first time round cos it was so planned and tried for. I thought I was well past the baby stage, toddler stage, preschool stage etc :) My boobs are so sore today, I can't bear to be hugged!

Tiredmule - I won't be convinced Im pregnant till I get a positive from the lab result. Its weird how Ive got to wait 8 weeks before I see a MW, esp cos Im an older mum, I thought the sooner the better. But hey ho!

My DH is so excited. He says he's finding it hard not telling folk and he keeps talking babies at work!!! Our latest concern is who we tell and when. I can't keep it from my mum, sister and best friend till 12 weeks but then I don't want them letting it slip to my DDs. But telling them before 12 weeks makes it such a long wait.

Well I did another pregnancy test today and both lines were the same shade :-D. I'm pregnant! So unplanned but we are so happy & excited now. Getting more symptoms. Boobs are so huge and sore, got a metallic taste in my mouth & feel that lightheaded way if on my feet for too long! And I want to eat veggies & fruit! Long may that continue :)
