Cramping at about 6 weeks

I think I'm about 6 weeks pg based on my recollection of my last period. This was unexpected but very welcome following a m/c last February. I am getting severe cramping though. Not on either side but predominantly in the middle. I don't have an appointment to see my gp until next Tuesday. Is this normal or should I get in to be seen? Obviously I'm worried I'll have another m/c but also don't want to be paranoid.

Sparkly - I too am a nervous pregnant lady after a m/c last January.
Whe it comes to aches and pains I was told that "Bad" pains are usually like a strong dragging sensation. So if it doesn't feel like this, just aches and twinges then just rest and try and relax.
I would agree though that if you can phone your nearest EPU unit as they can give you a reassuring early scan.
Hope all goes ok xx

Sparky, when I was pregnant I too had cramps in the early weeks and got totally freaked out by it. Having looked at MN at the time, I think this is more common than you think - something to do with your body adjusting and changing. Take it easy, rest, relax and see your MW / GP to be on the safe side, but I'm sure everything is ok. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

me too. i am also getting period like pains, although fairly mild. been to gp today and she said it is quite common but to call the surgery staight away if i started to bleed or the pains got more severe...

alliebaba · 23/02/2006 22:00

had this with both of mine.. think it's something to do with the egg imbedding... probably got that completely wrong. just rest up, and if you have any worries just go straight to your GP. Take care

It hasn't been so bad since yesterday late afternoon. In fact, apart from feeling slightly sick unless I eat, I wouldn't know I was pregnant. That also worries me. I was very sick when I had dd. I need to relax a bit though.

I'm seeing my gp on Tuesday morning to sort out mw/dating scan etc. I hope I don't have to wait ages to get that done. As it is my due date is based on a rough guess of my last period! Plus some reassurance that all is well would really help.

Congrats sparkly1

Am 22 weeks PG after a previous MC and I had horrendous cramping between weeks 5 and 7 then again 8 and 10-thought I was MC again but thankfully not. When I searched through previous threads I found that this is really common. Also, my sickness didn't kick in until about 7-8 weeks. I'm sure all will be fine then you can sit back and enjoy.

xxx

The reassurances help, thank you. Any ideas how long it will take to get my dating scan? I was told I'd be sent to the EPU clinic straightaway but I'm always sceptical that what is said and what will happen are not the same thing.

if you are sent to the epu, you are normally sent the same day as seeing the gp/mw, so you should get your scan the same day, thats as long as the ssystem is the same in your area as the one in my area. the only complication is if something happens on a weekend and the scanning unit is closed then you have to wait until monday!!! (which is absolutley shocking imo)
