I've had a pain in my side and a cramp in most of my leg all day the pain in my side is more towards my left hip.

Specially didnt help when I googled and it said that if you have an ectopic you get pain around sixth week, which i am.

The pain is not THAT strong but then again Ive never had one so how would i know i was having one.

Calm me down!!

Keep a close eye. Any worse or bleeding go back to a&e.

PandaNot · 11/06/2012 18:18

I've had scans at 5 weeks to rule out ectopics after my first one was ectopic so they can scan. I had NO pain at all with an ectopic at 7 weeks so you can have completely atypical symptoms which are not then picked up. Bloods should double in 48 hours.

From what I remember, the HCG increasing by the expected percentage is more important than what it is.

This website has a table of HCG levels, advance warning, it does have a picture of a foetus inside the mother - lovely pic, but worth warning if you are emotional. I was with my ectopic. Good luck.

I had no pain but I had bleeding on and off and then sudden, horrible shoulder tip pain and more bleeding, the hospital were still insisting that I was not having an ectopic pregnancy as they couldn't find any pregnancy on a scan. I refused to leave until they took me seriously and did something as they wanted me to go home and see how it went. Sure enough, they found I did have an ectopic pregnancy. I was 10-11 weeks when it was finally resolved.

schobe · 11/06/2012 18:29

This doesn't sound right to me. I personally think they should have scanned you and the whole 'wouldn't see anything' argument sounds like fobbing off.

If a woman is having abdominal pain that IS a result of an ectopic pregnancy, I thought it was because the tube is starting to rupture and blood is leaking out into the abdominal cavity. I was told this while experiencing mine.

In my case, I had pain similar to what you describe but no bleeding or other symptoms. Not screaming severe pain at all. However, the hospital did follow the correct protocol, scanned me, found the ectopic and removed it shortly afterwards. I spoke to my brother, a doctor, and he was shocked that they sent me down to ultrasound on my own. When he was a junior doctor in hospital, the procedure was to accompany the patient to the scan in case her condition suddenly worsened.

I'm sorry to be blunt and am not intending to frighten you, but honestly, if the pain won't go away I would park up at A&E if I were you and insist on a scan.

I'm surprised they didn't give you scan.

Just before the internal scan the doctors pressed on the area where the pain/fallopian tube was. I nearly flew off the bed it was so painful.
When I had the internal scan, they couldn't find the pregnancy. So I had to
have a laparoscopy (camera)

It was all done within a matter of hours.

Hi @DanyTargaryen,

Was it an ectopic pregnancy for you. Sorry but I am going through the same pain and due to coronavirus I am really scared if A&E would even see me. I do not want to wait till it gets worse.

DJBebe · 19/03/2020 01:00

Hi. Hope all goes well for you. Sending you a big hug. x

hana123567 · 01/05/2020 15:00

Hi I am also worried because of the coronavirus situation and going into A&E I’m 8 weeks pregnant and have had a bit of left shoulder pain but no other symptoms I’m not sure if this is something I should go in for or if i should wait it out, what did you end up doing?

KayJH1991 · 08/06/2020 21:36

@hana123567 Hi, I’m really sorry to ask but I’m in a similar situation as you. I’m 6 weeks pregnant and all of a sudden I’ve got a shoulder pain. No other symptoms. Just wondering how you got on?

MrsMesh · 15/06/2020 18:43

Hi,

Sorry to ask, but I'm 4 weeks 5 days with my second and having aching pain in my lower left abdomen through to my back, and it gets worse if I bend over ect and can make me feel dizzy, however I wouldn't describe it as severe and it comes and goes. I'm not sure what to do as never had this pain with my first, but, not sure if it's too early to feel the discomfort of an ectopic?

Replies appreciated x

Mjmds18 · 21/11/2020 18:20

Hi there @MrsMesh I’m sorry to ask but I have the exact same symptoms as you now and at the same stage pregnancy with my second. Any advice?

MrsMesh · 21/11/2020 19:42

Hi @mjmds18

Mine wasn't ectopic had an early scan as I couldn't stop worrying. I really can't explain why I had those symptoms. Other than this pregnancy has been very different!!! Much more symptoms and aches and pains this time, now 28 weeks and everything has been fine. I would call your midwife or book an early private scan to put your mind at ease.

Let me know how you get on x

Mjmds18 · 21/11/2020 19:49

@MrsMesh thanks so much for taking the time to reply and so happy to hear your pregnancy has progressed well since your last post! I’ll definitely get in touch with my midwife, and in the meantime at least I’ll be able to sleep a bit better tonight in the hope that mine will be the same! Really appreciate it Smile

Mjmds18 · 25/11/2020 20:13

Just to let you know I had an early scan today and mine also isn’t ectopic and everything looks as it should for 5+3 weeks, so relieved! Hopefully all goes well from here on. Thanks again for your reply, definitely helped calm my nerves until I had the scan!

Mjmds18 · 25/11/2020 20:14

Oops forgot to tag you @MrsMesh

jessstan1 · 25/11/2020 20:17

Dany, try your best to relax this evening (youtube have relaxing meditations which might help), have a good night's sleep and see how you are tomorrow. It may have gone by that but if by a remote chance, it is worse, speak to your doctor or go to A&E.

Good luck.

MrsMesh · 25/11/2020 20:20

@Mjmds18 I'm so pleased to hear it. Look after yourself. The first trimester is nerve wracking & exhausting x

Blanca08 · 01/01/2021 11:20

Hi @MrsMesh and @Mjmds18 sorry to ask ladies was your pregnancy through IVF or natural. I have been having the thing since 7dp5dt. I got my hc results at 9dp but it was quite low but more than doubled to 170 by 11dp but since 7dp which was Christmas Day it started off with sharp pains on my left side which I thought was implantation but now the niggling feeling has stayed on the same side sometimes going into my hip and lower back. I am now 14dp (4wks 5days) and just can’t shift this worry that this might be early signs of etopic as the ache is just not going it is constantly there

Mjmds18 · 01/01/2021 18:09

Hi @Blanca08 sorry to hear about what you are going through. I remember how nerve wracking it was when I was at the same stage as you.

Mine was a natural pregnancy but only 4 months after a late miscarriage, which in hindsight I think must have played a part in the cramping & spotting I was experiencing.

The pain on the left side could maybe be where you ovulated? I had pain on my right side and a scan later showed that the right ovary was where I had ovulated from, which explained the pain.

Have you had your booking appointment yet? I’d recommend speaking to your midwife, and they will try and get you in for a an early scan. Good luck, and try and stay positive!
