36 weeks, feeling weird and breathless

Anyone else felt like this?

I have been feeling pretty tired for the last couple of days, and over the weekend managed to get myself quite exhausted to the point of not being able to do anything but lie on the sofa and fall asleep.

This morning I was feeling quite weird when I woke up - all weak and tired, and when I went for a shower it left me really breathless to the point of panting.

This is DC3, but I've never felt like this at the end of pregnancy before.

I'm taking thyroxine at the moment, recently upped to 75mcg from 50mcg, but have been feeling a lot better since the increase. Before that I was like a wet dishrag.

Any ideas?

I'm home from work feeling sorry for myself. Should I just relax for the day and presume I'll be OK tomorrow? (this is my current plan, my doctor dodging Dad thinks I should go to the doctor)

I really think you should call your MW have your bloods come back ok with iron levels?

Don't ignore it

You think?

OK, maybe I will.

I'm feeling a lot better now than I did earlier.

My iron levels have been fine all through the pregnancy. Although now you mention it, I've always taken pregnacare in last trimester before to increase iron.

Thanks :)

Yes, get your iron checked.

worldgonecrazy · 07/06/2012 15:25

I'd get yourself checked out. I suffered breathlessness during pregnancy caused by a temporary heart murmur due to the increased level of blood in the body. When I went in they checked me over for all sorts of things that can show up through breathlessness. It's probably nothing, but always best to get checked out.

Oops, this fell way down my Threads I'm On.

Really, worldgone? I didn't realise breathlessness was an indicator for anything other than squashed lungs.

Bugger.

Yes, I was surprised. Went to my GP with breathlessness and ended up with an overnight stay in hospital. The tests they did were lung x-ray to check for clots, arterial blood oxygen levels and a heart scan to check that heart function etc. were okay and the heart murmur was just because of increased blood load.

Hope you're okay- have you spoken to any health professionals yet?

How are you feeling now?

marchpoppy · 09/06/2012 08:21

AThing just to say I had a couple of days feeling like that recently, I felt beyond exhaustion, weak and breathless. I rested up - slept almost all one day and one night which was quite a challenge with a DS aged 2 1/2 but then felt better again (just back to normal levels of exhaustion). Coincidentally, my thyroid function is being tested at the moment (fourth test) - haven't had any diagnosis or treatment as yet though, maybe it is a factor but usually I am not completely depleted of energy, just normal pg tiredness. Hope you're OK now.

I'm feeling a lot better now, thanks :) went to work yesterday.

I didn't go to see anyone, basically out of laziness Blush - I was so tired I couldn't bear the thought of having to go anywhere.

I'm still really tired, and uncomfortable, but it's feeling more like normal late-pregnancy now.

worldgone Shock - how terrifying, that must have been horrible.

I'm torn between not wanting that experience and wondering if I need those checks.

I'm still a little prone to breathlessness...

marchpoppy - thanks, that's reassuring :)

I know what you mean about the difference between regular pg tiredness and something else. I hope your TFT results are useful.

Thanks for thinking of me, friedfrog :)
