I had dd at Lancaster by emcs and am about 7 weeks with dc2. In an ideal world, I'd like an elcs this time - does anyone know the general views of the consultants in Lancaster. I think it was Mr Burch who I saw last time but at Kendal as I was mw-led until the end.

Cheers!

I had consultant care at the RLI but that was 6 years ago - Mr Burch was my consultant there so I assume he works/worked at both? I had an EMCS and I did actually ask about electives for future pregnancies at the time. He said that it should be an option that was offered to me anyway (my CS was due to preeclampsia so no 'physical' barrier to a VBAC IYSWIM). Not sure whether policy has changed there in the last few years though, sorry!

Don't the new NICE guidelines support elective CS at maternal request now anyway? I would imagine that having had a previous CS that would give even more weight to your request.

And congratulations, btw! Hope all goes well and you get what you want in the end :)

Thank you for your help, its much appreciated.

I had pre-natal depression and anxiety last time which I think contributed to me needing a section (absolutely no natural good hormones in me and even an entire bag of the drip couldn't get things moving despite being 40+13).

So far this time I'm doing ok, but I think that the thought of another section, which was amazingly positive last time once they did it, would help stave off the anxiety this time as it's a known entity for me. With having dd who's only 8 months, I can't risk falling into a black hole again through this pregnancy. I just didn't know how pro vbac they were....

Thank you!
