Should I book a holiday abroad if I might be pregnant by then?

Hi. Got a bit of a dilemma. Hubby and I are planning to start a family soon, but have booked a week off work in September together. We both really want to go away abroad to Greece - back to a hotel we stayed at before and fell in love with. We talked about a UK holiday but I don't think it'll be the same. But by then, it's possible I could be either 1 or 2 months pregnant (assuming we get pregnant immediately after trying). It's hard to know what to do. It might take more than the first couple of months of trying to get pregnant and it isn't an issue, or we might fall pregnant straight away!

On the one hand, we both need a break and it might help with conception, having some chill out time on the beach. On the other hand, I could be in the early stages of pregnancy and wonder if the flight could lead to a miscarriage. I read up quite a lot on it and it seems it's safe to fly on all the official health websites but they do mention that nausea might be worse and DVT and miscarriage are a risk. I guess if we didn't book to go away and we weren't pregnant by then, I would feel annoyed that we hadn't just gone away.

I suppose my question to any Mums out there is: would I enjoy a beach break if I was in the early stages of pregnancy, is morning sickness a bit tiring if you're abroad? Has anyone else flown when they're 4 - 8 weeks pregnant?

We'd delay starting a family a bit longer until after a potential September holiday, but I'm 35 so we're sort of thinking that time is of the essence.

Any advice please???

Book it! I'm just back from Algarve at 8 ish wks and it was the best thing we could have done. If you are not fit enough closer to time you use your insurance to cancel.
Mine isn't the most straightforward pregnancy, 2 previous mc's and I have had bleeding with this one but I had scan before I went and scan on return too.
My gp was really against me going, and asked me to not go. The hospital and midwife said it would be completely fine.
If you are going to mc you will have one, the flight will not increase your chances. It just depends if you are happy having a mc abroad, and v small chance you could have to visit a Greek hospital.
We took the chance and a week of sunshine and a week off work was def the best thing for me. Sorry this is long! As others have said it takes time which I wasn't planning on as when we booked I thought i'd be in 2nd trimester hopefully but it took longer.

Hi far - thanks for the invite. I think I will.

My antenatal thread is lovely but very fast moving so never joined in properly. Off to hunt out the Brookers thread.

Deffo book it.

I went to Vegas for 2 weeks at 12 weeks pg and i was fine. Luckily i didnt suffer from morning sickness, was a little tired, but think half of that was all the walking around - it wasnt really the most relaxing holiday.

I'm 25 weeks now and everything is still all going well.
