Had my scan ladies-
I was worrying for the past 12 weeks over nothing. There the little one was up on the screen!
I guess not everyone has morning sickness or nausea! I was i guess one of the lucky ones! All those weeks of worrying about not feeling ill/ pregnant goes to show everyone is different!
The little one was As clear as day wriggling around. I was told that we had a cheeky one as the little one kept wriggling around and wouldnt keep still! Arms all over the place. Hands in mouth. Amazing! Amazing!

I'm due 14thDecember and am 12+ 5
Tonight we start telling close friends and family bit not announcing it on Facebook...
Now i have to decide When / how I shall tell work? I don't work at head office so do t see anyone so could leave it a few more weeks....
What have u all done? Is 12 weeks still a little early?
Yay to being able to be excited now!!
X :-)

Congratulations!

Ahhh congratulations! I didn't get morning sickness either, I think its actually quite common.

You don't need to tell work til you're 25 weeks if you don't want to - entirely up to you. I told work at 13 weeks as I knew I'd need lots of time off for appointments (blood tests etc) as I'm hypothyroid :)

Mikyahrose · 06/06/2012 16:45

I didnt get any sickness either. The pregnany has been so smooth - if it wasnt for the bump, i'd honestly not have a clue.
I'd already told most friends and family before the scan and a few people at work.

Then after the scan was the facebook announcement.

Congratulations! It is amazing!

I told work pretty early (6 weeks) as I knew I'd need lots of time off for dr's appointments etc. and after 2 previous mc I wouldn't be giving my work my full attention. I didn't want them to think I was just shit! they were very understanding.

Also, employers have a duty of care towards pregnant employees but they can't be expected to fulfill this if they are unaware you're pregnant. It does need to be balanced with any promotions or pay rises that may be on the horizon, if you think pregnancy could sway them it may be better to keep quiet for now as whilst it's illegal to discriminate it can be hard (and stressful) to prove.

I was the same - I mean, right up to the moment of the screen flickering to light, DP only had my word for it. Prior to then, there had been no confirmation other than two red lines on a stick. I was thinking how embarrassing if it's a phantom pregnancy.

We're really private so we only told close relatives the week before the scan. Lucky we did though as SIL was planning to visit and would have brought 2 chicken-poxed-to-the-hilt kids with her. So, obviously that visit was quickly postponed. Close call! It felt a bit strange when we told friends about a week after the scan. Need not have worried as they were all excited... probably more than us because the whole time we've been purposely restraining our excitement for "what if scenarios".

As for work, I felt totally ill at ease with sharing the news and used annual leave time for my initial hosp/midwife appointments. Told my supervisor at about 18 weeks and his indiscretion did the task for me. Was initially miffed that he let it out, but when I realised he saved me from having to do it I was actually relieved. Haha. Now when someone at work asks a question, and I answer publicly, that gives others the chance to find out without me making any grand announcements.

The thing you've gotta be wary of is bloody SIL people putting it on their FB status (like it's any of their business to share the news anyway). Maybe just assume they will blab and pre-warn them not to.

Congratulations Smile

I told work at 14 weeks but only because I had loads of appointments coming up as I am under consultant-led care. I'm now 17 weeks and still not showing so I could have kept it quiet a bit longer but it makes it awkward with appointments.
