Yes,spitting blood after some brushing(even gentle one).Reduced the time of brushing but got plenty of mouthwashing.

hello i have some gum and mouth things going on, to help, floss twice a day and get those inbetween brush interdent stick things. also good to massage gums with your fingers after brushing, just sort of give them a rub! salt water rinse is good if you think they may become infected. Weleda do a Ratanhia Toothpaste which is brilliant for gums, although don't use it without checking with them as it has myrh oil in it which isn't recommended in pregnancy, but if they continue to be odd after then this is definatley recommended.

If your gums bleed you need to brush more albeit gently if they are sore. Even in pregnancy. You may as well dance in the moonlight as use the majority of mouthwash brands. They are so non medicinal they are classes as cosmetic. There are a few exceptions to this but not many. Try to get in with your dentist.

Hi, I had the same thing throughout my pregnancy. I went to the dentist after DS was born and she said pregnancy had made my gums soften and I had gum disease. I saw her every 3 months for a year and by then they were back to normal. I would see your dentist as a friend of mine went through 3 pregnancies with this, was too scared to go see her dentist and now has major problems with her gums and back teeth.

your blood volume increases dramatically in pregnancy which can lead to swollen, soreish and sometimes bleeding gums. DH noticed mine started to look a bit sore at about 16 weeks... i think it's actually fairly common.

Yep, it looks like a bloodbath after I've brushed mt teeth and has done throughout the pregnancy. Good news is that the dentist is free while you're pregnant so if you're worried get down there now!

Yep, I too have had the bloodbath on rinsing thing. I talked to my dad (retired dentist) and he said just floss religiously and it should keep it under control. As well as the increase in blood volume, your gums get oversensitive to the smallest amount of plaque during pregnancy and so gum disease can set in with only the mildest irrittaion.

I have sensitive teeth at the best of times, which is a precursor to bleeding gums/gum disease if not managed, so it was almost inevitable.

If it's any consolation, flossing every day has seriously helped me. I was previously a "floss when you feel like there's something stuck" flosser.

Also don't get a softer toothbrush - I did this when I first had senstive teeth and my then dentist told me off because soft brushes don't get rid of the plaque, so although your gums bleed less on brushing, it's worse in the long run.

I have used dental wipes, recommended for babies, they contain xylitol that kills bacteria but is really gentle. I use them after all meals and sugary drinks.
Wards of any bacteria that might cause infection in sore gums!
Great for DS when teething too!
Can get them online
