Very Hot Baths

Sorry if this has been answers before but the search function isn't working for me on my phone.

What's the problem with having very hot baths when pregnant? I like a hot bath - I mean, turn me lobster, not just warm - so I guess I'd like to know why I'm not supposed to have them!

The heat can lower your BP and may cause you to faint leading to drowning or a fall)

AFAIK there's no danger to the baby.

I read on here before there is a bit of a risk of the baby over heating too so hot baths are really best avoided. I
sometimes have a quite hot (but not as hot as I normally would if I wasn't pregnant) bath and have it a bit shallow so my bump is out of the bath!

I heard there was a risk of baby overheating as they can't thermoregulate properly in utero. I second the 'shallow yet hot' option as an ideal compromise! Might be more useful to you later on in pregnancy when most of the baby is out of the water anyway....

Baby overheating is the reason I've been told too (by MWs and friends). I've dialled mine down a notch, I'm usually a scalding hot kinda gal, and avoided jacuzzis etc.

I was told the spa/jacuzzis are a definite no-no as they retain their heat, while a bath will cool down over time. Wouldn't make the initial temperature scalding hot though, just to be safer.
