Hi all I wonder if you can advise me...

Am currently 5 weeks and due to go on holiday for 2 weeks when I will be about 10 weeks. Will be booking in with midwife around 24th June but am worried about how soon I'll receive my scan appt and how flexible this can be to change? My job is quite inflexible and it will be pretty much when I get back from
holiday. I'm worried the letter may come while I'm away. I'm in the south west.

Any responses appreciated!

I arranged my scan with the midwife at my booking in appointment. DP was away on the first date she suggested so she did one to suit me. Am in the NW though so may not be the way things are done in your trust but still, I think they are fairly flexible.

Thanks terry - fab name by the way!

Hopefully there will be reasonable flexibility as don't want to have to take another day off when have been off for 2 weeks, although if no choice I obviously will. Thanks for your reply.

whatsin in terms of getting time off work it is part of the law that your employer must give you the time off work for all maternity appointments/scans/classes and this does not come out of your annual leave so don't worry about taking the time off, they have to give it to you. It's not the same for dads though unfortunately they either have to have a nice employer or take annual leave!

Thanks Alison

I know they have to give me the time off by law however my work is complex (social services) and I can't always change things last minute. But if needs must it will have to happen! Will be telling my manager this week probably so will discuss it with her then.

Hopefully it won't be an issue anyway and I'll be able to get a convenient ish time Smile thanks again.

I had to change the time of my appt due to work. Phoned the receptionist at the hospital and they gave me first appt of the day which was great (I'm in Cambridge). Turned out I was 14 weeks at the scan and they still were able to do all the NT measurements (just) so don't worry :)

Hi not sure where in south west you are but I'm in Cornwall had my booking in appointment at 10 weeks and midwife did paperwork for scan then. I was on holiday when the appointment was due to be sent so got the inlaws to open post and it was 2 days after we returned from hols but there was a number to ring to change it.

That's really reassuring lois thank you! I didnt realise it was still ok at 14 weeks.trying not to stress about it. Am a planner/ organiser and like everything to be 'just so'! So uncertainty I am not good with. Need to get over that pronto! Hopefully can explain situation to midwife too and she'll be able to help.

My husband is a police officer so although it was ok for my job its really hard for him to get time off. Our first 12 scan date was a day he couldn't get off and we really wanted to go together. I just called the hospital (am booked at MLU but scans at local hospital) and explained. There was only 1 day that week DH could make and they changed it for us, were really understanding.
