I've not even had a scan yet however am experiencing the worst pain in my coccyx and buttock! I can't even walk without gasping in pain! It gets worse through the day too to the point of not being able to climb the stairs and I cry with the pain most days. Doc and nurse says just muscular pain through relaxing muscles and to take paracetamol. I can't work because of it and have just taken a six month secondment so will feel like I'm letting them down if I don't go in, but I can't physically! All I'm managing to do is sit on the settee and shuffle around the house and then I'm still in a lot of pain! Asked to be referred to physio by doc and he said there's a three month waiting list, have booked in privately as in pain but that's not fair!

Has anyone experienced this so early? What did you do to relieve it? And is it likely to subside when I'm passed the first trimester???

Adoes anyone know of any stretches or gental exercise I can do? Doc said to swim but I wouldn't be able to get in the water or change myself after! Argh! Help!

I started with my pain at 8 weeks, but it wasn't as severe as what your pain sounds like. Mine was mostly bad after walking around and of course the pain you feel when turning in bed. However, the farther along I've gotten the worse the pain has gotten. My best advice is take it easy, try not to feel guilty and always ask for help when you need it. My husband is very supportive and understands it hurts me and always helps me whenever he can. When I get in and out of the bath he actually has to lift my legs up for me sometimes because I just can't do it. We have also resolved ourselves to the fact that I can only do one task a day. I haven't really found anything that helps the pain, but sitting down and resting. Paracetamol didn't do anything helpful for me at all and I don't feel comfortable taking it anyway.

I hope you can find something that helps you relieve some of your pain. They say that doing your pelvic floor exercises can help make you feel better which shouldn't cause you any pain and might help. Good luck and I hope your physio helps.

Do you have a midwife? I've got terrible pain in my lower back and was told to self refer to the women's physio at my hospital. They run clinics because so many pregnant women need support. I know every trust is different but I'd question there not being a physio route for you.

In my area we're discouraged from seeing our GP unless we've spoken to our MW first - they're the ones with the best information. Good luck, I know how vile it is!

I've seen a physio privately for pgp who also treats patients on the NHS. She told me that they will always treat women who have this in condition and are in serious pain, I.e. can't walk etc. if I were you I would ignore the GP, self-refer, and call the women's physio people directly. Worth a try. If you can get someone to treat the acute pain and get to a point where is it more manageable, then exercise may help. Advice seems to differ, but I've been told never to exercise through the pain, if it hurts, don't do it!

I had this and saw my cranial oestopath. It really helped and it warded off the crutches!

I started with pgp at 12 weeks and was told by my gp that it couldn't possibly be pgp as I was only 12 weeks.....yeah right! Led to months of steadily worsening pain and being signed off work early and on strong painkillers that I was told to stop taking at the first sign of a contraction.

Not to scare you, but to point out that you need to be very persistent in getting help, physio did help me a lot as well as getting a serola belt to hold me together. But take it very easy, alternating hot and cold compresses might help, sit properly (no
Slouching, crossed legs) and take some paracetamol. Mine stopped almost the instant my DD was born, fingers crossed you have the same.
