Question about itching

Yesterday I started with an itchy palm. Didn't think much of it until this morning I noticed a bump. Tried not to itch it today and sort of ignored it. Just watching TV and my foot has started itching now near my ankle, got a few much smaller bumps like a nettle sting rash or something. Just going 28 wks.

What do you reckon? Phone docs tomorrow since its bank holiday weekend or just see what happens for a few days. Had itching on tummy early on but went away.

Anyone else had this and it was just PUPPS or something less?

I haven't had this, but a close friend had obstetric cholestasis and she first had it diagnosed because of the itching, unsurprisingly.

The bumps could mean its a heat rash - I do remember occasionally getting a heat rash on my bump - but if you are still itching tomorrow I'd call the doc and ask to be seen just in case. Its much better to ask during pregnancy, the chances are everything is absolutely fine but its not worth taking the tiny risk that it isn't.

Hope its just a rash x

I have had itching on my bump which then spread to my arms and legs. It turns out it is PUPPS... HOWEVER, before they determined that they took 2 blood samples (a week apart) to check my bile acid levels to make sure it wasn't obstetric cholestasis. My midwife said she didn't think it was cholestasis as she said usually the itching is more prevalent on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet with cholastasis, which I didn't have, and doesn't usually come with a rash, which I did have, but she wanted to make sure which is why she took the blood anyway.

I would call your midwife today and get a blood sample taken. They are usually pretty quick with the results. If it turns out to be cholastasis I think they monitor you more closely and give you some supplements to take. They can quite often decide to deliver you a few weeks early to be on the safe side as well.

Hope you get it sorted, the itching can be like torture! I have only just got mine under control after 4 weeks and have had to resort to steriod cream from the doctor!

x

Thanks as always ladies :) itching on palm (that was slightly freaking me) has almost gone as has the rash on my foot so thinking maybe just heat rash due to weather. Seeing MW next week so will get checked out.

lilk really sorry to hear you have the dreaded PUPPs, was reading about it and it really does sound like torture, poor you :(.

Lois: have you got a walk-in clinic near you? If so, pop along in the morning - or ring your GP if they do Saturday surgeries. Obstetric cholastasis is not something to take chances with, it would really be as well to get checked out sooner rather than later.

I think there is one although never been but will investigate.... Trying not to worry about every little thing but maybe this is one not to ignore, especially if just blood test to check.

Thanks :)
