Who else pokes their baby to make sure they're ok?

Blush

This poor baby is regularly being prodded just so I can feel him/her move. It's become a bit of an obsession over the last few days. I'm 34+5, and I think their movements are meant to slow up a bit, but even after an hour I'm poking Blush

So own up. Who else does this.

now i'm all broody.....Smile

McPhee · 30/05/2012 20:04

My baby is head down now, so I find myself poking his/her back to make it wriggle. Baby can't bruise can it??

McPhee · 30/05/2012 20:10

Lol a cot kicker Hehehehhe

Mothpop · 30/05/2012 20:11

LOL, absolutely!!!! I have poked my baby throughout my pregnancy - normally through my belly button as you can feel even more!!!
Baby has always been head down so have not been too concerned about poking her in the face/head, although I do occasionally wonder whether she'll come out with little indentations all over her bottom!!!!

OTTMummA · 30/05/2012 20:28

My babies heart beat was 170 after a poking from them mw at my 28 week appt, now I feel bad when I do poke her, but if I don't and she hasn't moved for a while i panic! If can't do that much harm can it? I feel guilty sometimes.

geekette · 30/05/2012 20:42

Bah me thinks the stomach muscles and uterine lining won't permit any bruising. The little ones sound well protected in there.

babybrain3 · 30/05/2012 21:11

Loving this thread... Sometimes I feel a bit guilty-what if I poke it in the eye?!?!??Blush

McPhee · 30/05/2012 21:14

The eyes don't open until after 24 weeks. I think that's what my book said.

I poke mine in the back or the bum. Whatever I can find at the time. It's odd but I still can't fathom out any limbs.

You're all braver than me! I can just about put a flat hand on the sides of the bump, I don't like feeling it too much! Too squeamish!

ElizabethPonsonby · 31/05/2012 12:35

I regulary have to push back at elbows or knees or bum as it pushes them out so hard it hurts, usually accompanied by 'geroff yer little bugger' Grin

silverangel · 31/05/2012 13:23

Wait till its born, I'm still doing it when they sleep and they're 10 months now!

GnocchiNineDoors · 31/05/2012 13:25

I used to drink a glass of ice cold wayer and then watch her try and wriggle away from it mwahahaha....evil...me?

vixreyland · 31/05/2012 13:50

I did this loads with my son and now this baby will endure the same! She is very active at the moment so doesn't need much encouragement, a glass of fanta seems to her her dancing! Lol x
