Hi all, I'm 38 weeks pregnant and am diabetic, my baby is on the 97th centile for abdominal circumference so is predicted to be large (9llb's +). I'm being induced at 39 weeks which is next Tuesday but I'm so fedup. I'm huge (people have asked if im having twins) I have massively swollen feet and ankles so cant do anything, just standing up to do the washing up is killing me. I've also got carpel tunnel syndrome (hands feel numb and tingly). My back is killing me and I'm sooooo bored!
All I want to do is eat, but being diabetic I have to watch what im eating to keep my sugar levels under control, grrrrrrr.
I'm very grateful for being pregnant in the first place as I was due to start fertility treatment when I conceived naturally, however, I never thought it would be this tough being pregnant!
Sorry to winge but I needed to let it out, feel free to share in a good winge.

Oh Sophie I feel for you xx

Can't offer any advice but I know that it's tough being 32 weeks in this horrible heat let alone 38 with all you have to cope with.

Xxx

Thank you Bonnyone, I forgot to mention the heat which has not helped this week!

Completly understand the frustration. I am 37 weeks and feel so fed up, I just want the baby now. On Wednesday after another one of my NCT group had their baby I had a proper toddler style tantrum to my dh. Poor man disn't quite know what to say or do! I think it's the heat, it is making it all so much harder. Roll on end of this week when I finish work and start my maternity leave!

That sounds really hard Sophie, but the end is in sight!

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and it's been a horrid week this week for lots of reasons, I just want my baby boy safe in my arms and the birth out of the way.

I was induced with my ds1 and it all went fine by the way as I know often people tell induction stories that are less than positive. In my experience it was very intense but overall really ok.

I feel the same Sophie, also 38 weeks on Friday, also (gestational) diabetic and I have the joy of SPD with a toddler to look after. My baby is also around the 97th centile.

I turned down a CS at 38 weeks (was that madness?) so am hoping to go into spontaneous labour. Fat chance at the moment - having had DD at 32 weeks it is a complete shock to still be pg with this one, and it seems quite comfy where it is....

I have it on fairly good authority that we can have a sweep from 37 weeks if we have a reason for it - have you tried that? Thinking of trying to organise myself to call the mw and request one.

Thanks for your replies, is answer to your question lostlenore my situation is slightly different because im a type 2 diabetic on a combination of insulin and metformin so the only option I have been given is the induction. To be honest this is my first baby and im terrified that hes going to be huge, if I had been offered the choice of a c section I would have taken it, are they leaving you to go into labour naturally or are they inducing you early?

Sorry to hear you're insulin managed, that must be hard. What are you snacking on (I'm so bored of cheese and ham!)? Not long to go for you now though :)

At the mo I'm being left to go into labour naturally, which is good, but I'm really uncomfortable and worried like you that the baby is better out than in at this stage to prevent getting too big etc.

I'm seeing the Consultant five days before I'm due to figure out if anything needs to be done.

Are you expressing colostrum? I was told that this was a very good idea in case bubba is hypo at birth....

You have my sympathies. It probably doesn't help, but I have been there, then got pregnant again - it feels like forever, but really will be over soon.

aww, moan away it helps sometimes to get it all off your chest.
