Anyone else unhappy with their bigger boobs?

I'm 13+3 and since getting pregnant have gone up two cup sizes - I'm now an E and am not happy :(

I had to buy some new bras yesterday as I couln't force myself into the old ones. I couldn't find any bras that were pretty or feminine, with thin straps or delicate material. The bras I had to buy were plain with big wide straps and thick cups.

Ok, so I feel much better supported now, I'm more comfortable and I have a nice shape with my clothes on. But I so do not look sexy! If my hooters keep growing like this I'm going to end up spending a fortune on bras.

Sulk over! Going to make some Brew. Anyone else in the big boobie boat and feel like they're sinking?!?

Bravissimo for a good range of bras in larger cup sizes (some of them printed). Yes, wish I was only an E !

MyDaydream · 30/05/2012 15:25

I'm used to the big boobs because they've always been there, but I'm worried about how big they're going to get. If you know where to look you can get pretty bras, but unfortunately bigger sizes = thick straps.
Freya do lovely colourful bras in bigger sizes, and they're sold in quite a few places. My local Debenhams and House of Fraser both sell them, as well as every independent bra shop I've been to.
Figleaves have a couple of colourful pattered maternity ones in larger sizes and seem to get recommended a lot on here.
On the constant growing issue. I got measured recently in a local independent and the lady who helped me pick the bras sized me up ever so slightly so I'm getting good support now but I have room to grow and still have the support. It might be worth getting measured and telling them your pregnant if you didn't when you went out to get your latest bras.

coffeeandcream · 30/05/2012 15:26

Hi mistlethrush,

Yes I've seen some of the bravissimo stuff, it looks ok, but I'm just cross about the expense, I can't afford to keep buying bigger bras. I resent the cost, especially when I'll only get to wear the damn things for a few weeks.

And if this is my size now, I'm dreading what I'll be in another six months Shock

Hello daydream, thanks for the shopping tips. I expect I'll have to go buy some more soon so will do as you suggest.

I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but my friends with smaller chests wish they had mine, and I really wish I had theirs! Give me a B cup anyday!!

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 30/05/2012 15:31

Yup, I know the feeling. However, just think that, in a year you'll probably be back to a more normal size and not have to frequent the thick straps all the time. At the moment I'm a bit heavier than I should be... however, last time I got down to my ideal weight I ended up a 30 GG. That was pre-child too!

dosomethingmutley · 30/05/2012 15:34

Me! I was really pleased to start off with, as was only a C pre-preg and always wished I had a little bit more cleavage, so when I went up to a D I felt great and really sexy. Now I'm an E cup and, although I've found a supportive bra that I like, some days I still feel like a cow with udders Blush not sure breast feeding is going to help this feeling.

Only 20 weeks at the moment so naively hoping I did most of my growing early on and won't get too much bigger! Ho hum.

DizzyKipper · 30/05/2012 15:38

They're not as nice as I'd hoped they would be, they look like udders! I wouldn't even say they're that big (though they are for my body size since I'm quite lean usually and have stayed lean except for the bump and boobies).

Oh yeah, and DH commented last night - "you look really weird now you're pregnant". I know he didn't mean it in that way, but still Sad

Katienana · 30/05/2012 15:40

An E isn't really that bad, you can buy bras that fit in lots of shops. Try brastop.com they sell discounted bras in bigger sizes. I'm normally a G and have gone up to a H at 23 weeks, god help me if they get any bigger! It's not just bras I struggle to fit them into tops as well.
To be honest I have just been wearing maternity/nursing bras, at least then I should get some use out of them after the baby is born. If the bra is a turnoff for your OH just whip it off quickly I am sure he will be happy with that!

londonlivvy · 30/05/2012 15:40

Oh MAN I feel your pain. I was 30F before I got pregnant and now am (at least) 32G. F was plenty and especially as I've been told to wear soft cup (I had mastitis) the range of bras is minimal and mostly hammock-like.

BUT if you're still wearing underwired, try brastop.co.uk they have lots of ends of line type bargains and it's much cheaper.

Belchica · 30/05/2012 15:43

Hi coffeeandcream,

I am right there with you! I cannot get used to these bazookas I have sprouted. It's like puberty all over again!!! Only this time I have actually got boobs! Stood for about 5 minutes just staring at them in the mirror at gym the other day wondering whose body they really belonged to. God knows what the other ladies were thinking.

DP has expressed nostalgia for my 'mosquito bites'. And I had a moment were I felt really sad upon realising that I hadn't said a proper 'goodbye' to my old boobs - as I'm guessing I'll never get those back, just some saggy imposters :-)

All that said, it does feel kind of nice knowing that nature is doing its thing and I get the feeling my baba will not go hungry with these monsters...

coffeeandcream · 30/05/2012 15:43

30GG mistlethrush? puts my moaning into perspective ...

mutley I so share your reservations. I'm planning to BF and it seems I certainly have the equipment ;)

Can you go to Pretty Pregnant, I have found some lovely soft underwires in there that are lovely.
Plus I like you shot up 2 sizes by week 9 but then they have calmed right down and are now the same size at 18 weeks :)

coffeeandcream · 30/05/2012 15:50

Belchica - ROFL at your post, cheered me up!

I'm sorry to whinge ladies, I know there are plenty of women with much bigger assets than mine who have to manage them, but some days I just don't feel like my body beongs to me any more.

londonlivvy and katienana - I always wear underwired bras, otherwise I sag horribly :(. I haven't heard of brastop.com - will go and have a look...

dizzykipper don't OHs really annoy you some time. Mine now permanently address my chest when talking to me Hmm

Also not heard of Pretty Pregnant - thank you for all these gems of wisdom :)

Snowgirl83 · 30/05/2012 16:25

coffeeandcream - ha I know exactly how you feel, and whoever was talking about udders/cows I totally empathise! I actually said the same to my OH the other day - that I felt like a prize heffer. He laughed (I was not happy with this reaction needless to say). And I also ordered a gossard bra online and when it arrived he ran around with it on his head marvelling at how it still had space. He's 35. Although I suppose I do have to give him credit for his patience thus far- not only have my boobs got so massive, my nipples are sooooo sensitive and hurt & so when OH accidentally brushed them the other day I am ashamed to say that I instinctively bit him on the hand! Blush

Anyway, not only have mine gone from a 34F to a 34H (I'm 21 weeks), the fitters at M&S and La Senza & all these other places haven't been able to fit me, as apparently I'm between sizes, so they keep saying "come back in a few weeks". AAAAHHH!!! And my freya one that does fit in the cups does a really weird thing so my boobs look like Madonna in that pointed bra. Sexy. Am going to have a look at the sites recommended on here. My friends with babies have taken delight in telling me how they double in size again when you start breastfeeding.

AAAAAAGH!!!!

ladygagoo · 30/05/2012 16:46

I am 25 weeks now and went from 34DD to 36G - mine are mahoosive now.
I have a top tip for you though - try ASDA. I never normally shopped for bras there but they do have really big sizes for much much cheapness - and as you say, you'll likely only be in them for a few weeks. Worth a shot?

dosomethingmutley · 30/05/2012 16:46

Katienana I didn't mean to imply I had it that badly; just that I'm not used to it and it makes me feel weird, that's all :) Thanks for the brastop.com recommendation - I've just bought a lovely looking hotmilk bra for £16! Bargain!

SomedayIllFlyAway · 30/05/2012 17:03

Another vote for Asda, but try them on to make sure they fit properly!

I went from a 32F pre pregnancy to 34G by 8 weeks. I am still that size at 20 weeks. I have put all my nice Freya underwear away with the hope that I will shrink back down to fit them again! With the price of Freya bras (and the matching knickers!), I couldn't justify the expense, especially as I grew out of my 32G and 34F's within a week of buying them, but like I say I have been this size for 12 weeks now, and hopefully will not grow too much more when my milk comes in.

I found Asda's bras to be ok if they fit well, but have 2 34G's of slightly different styles where one fits and the other doesn't, but at £9 - £18 per bra I don't feel as bad when I only wear them once before I grew.

Impatientwino · 30/05/2012 17:11

I was a 36F/G pre pregnancy and shot up to 38J by about 20 weeks.

They seemed to have stopped since then but now at 32 weeks I think they are on the move again Hmm I have noticed over the last few days my colostrum has arrived and they feel fuller again so am crapping myself about going for another fitting at 38 weeks for nursing bras in case they direct me to the marquee supply company ]blush] Sad

lotsofcheese · 30/05/2012 18:13

Mine are enormous too - and painful/sensitive! They started getting bigger at 4/5 weeks & I've just been fitted at 9.5 weeks as I was so uncomfortable in my old 34E's. Was hoping to last to 12 week scan before buying but no such luck.

Got fitted at Debenhams & have gone up to 38F - the fitter gave me a lot of leeway for growth, so hopefully they'll last longer.

Tried non-wired but there was nowhere near enough support for my boobs. So have gone for underwired own-brand, they were £18 each (with 20%) discount in summer spectacular last week.

I guess I'm just used to paying lots for bra's. However Fraser's have their discount on at the moment so you could get Freya/Charnos etc there.

ellesabe · 30/05/2012 20:08

Yes I hate it!
I'm 16 weeks and went to be fitted for my first soft-cup today. I was 32H already :(
I lost track when I was pg with dd1. I think I got up to 36J or something daft like that.

ivanapoo · 30/05/2012 22:47

Wow some big knockers on this thread. I have gone from 32C/D to buying 32E in M&S maternity bra and it being too small :( I just can't find nice non-wired bras to fit me and don't want to wear something that's not quite right so I'm still having to wear old extremely uncomfortable bras at the mo.

Can anyone recommend a good supportive comfortable non wired bra for a 32/34E pretty please?

Loislane78 · 30/05/2012 22:51

I feel they're expanding a lil out of control as well. Was 32F before but got in size 12's so all fine and I'm tall so reasonably in proportion. Am up to 34FF or G cup and not too happy about it at 28 wks :(. Just pleased they don't hurt anymore though tbh as that was murder early on

ellesabe · 31/05/2012 07:40

I can't recommend Bravissimo enough. Every bra I have ever bought from there has been mega comfy and supportive. Even maternity and nursing bras. They do cost a bit but worth it IMO.

Flickstar · 31/05/2012 09:28

I hate mine! Have always been quite ample in the bosom department and was quite proud of my 34Ds. I could dress them well and they suited my shape. I'm now 34 weeks and bursting out of a 38D- I feel like my cleavage pops out of everything and feel matronly!
