Hello all

I have a high risk pregnancy appointment with a dr at my local hospital tomorrow and I have no idea what to expect. I'm high risk because I had a cs with my last pregnancy 13 years ago and i have fibroids which I only found out about because of a scan at 6 weeks. I have 2 or 3 and they are about 20mm in size. Would i get another scan? What have your experiences been?

As high risk you're much more likely to get lots of scans included in your prenatal care. You'll also end up seeing your consultant a lot more than your midwife. Don't be worried about being high risk. It means that they'll keep a much closer eye on you and you'll be able to ask the consultant any questions about anything that's concerning you. It's a positive experience.
Good luck with your pregnancy.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I was "high risk" too. It just means extra scans, extra appointments and seeing a Dr instead of a midwife sometimes.

It was very reassuring to be so well looked after TBH!

Thank you very much crispyjojo for your response.
Im quite surprised that I'm high risk, but don't mind at all getting extra scans lol.

I spent half an hour at my high risk appointment (previous cs). I had bloods and a chat with the cons and then a scan at which point the cons decided to allow my pregnancy to be managed as low risk until 36 weeks at which point he'd see me again.

I suppose it all just depends on whatever the issue is. I'm sure they'll scan you and make a decision about the level of care you will need.

I had one extra scan at 36 weeks and an appointment at the vbac clinic and that was it for extras.

RickGhastley I don't mind being looked after at all, lol. Just came as a bit of a shock as I heard that they basically ignore you in your second pregnancy.

ShowOfHands,I have a vbac appointment in Aug as i have no idea what kind of birth i want but the midwife said the fibroids might mean i have no choice. So thats something they need to investigate. Im 15 wks so have a bit of time.
