Opinion on wearing a bikini when pregnant?

I am due Sept. 7th and this is my second; I have a 2 1/2-year-old. Just had a conversation with the women of my reading group which greatly upset me - they had just found out I was pregnant and the conversation went to how bad pregnant women look in bikinis!! Well, I wore one all summer in 2003 with my first, and was looking forward to it again this summer. I never thought to feel embarrassed by my body when I was pregnant that time, but now I'm not so sure. Even my mom was saying that if you're somewhere where you don't know anyone then it's okay but otherwise you're "letting it all hang out" and she thinks it's unattractive. New news to me. In 2003 I just thought I looked cute. Maybe it'll look cute anyway and I'm overworrying but now I don't want to be known as the gross one around the pool ... !

it's a generation thing. my mum says the one fashion thing these days that was an absolute no no when she was younger is preg women showing off their bump, per se.

but you wouldn't catch me wearing a bikini, pregnant or no!

I'm with you marls001. I love a bump out and proud. Why not? I wore mine proudly when pg with dd1 and ds2.

Doesn't bother me in the least to se it - but I wouldn't do it myself (unless in the privacy of my own private holiday mansion).
