AIBU to find the term "nesting" deeply irritating?

I know this isn't AIBU but I don't want to go in there on my own [wuss].

Since I went on mat leave two weeks ago I have been getting baby stuff ready and, because I have more free time than usual, I have done laundry, batch cooked food so that we have a nice full freezer and don't starve after the birth and generally kept the place tidy. We are also moving house soonish, with a bit of luck, so it makes sense to get organised before the birth.

I am getting a bit annoyed with people saying, "ooh, you're nesting!" in a conspiratorial, amused, aren't-you-a-funny-pregnant-lady sort of a way. No, doing the washing up isn't a sign of labour. Neither is making spag bol or hoovering. Or sorting out the baby gros and washing them so the baby has something to wear.

Ironing towels or socks, regrouting the bathroom tiles or cleaning the top of cupboards that nobody can see anyway, maybe. Normal housework and sensible preparation for the arrival of a baby, no.

Ooh, I don't usually do that, but it felt good. Hang on...

Just console yourself with the fact that if they only do these things when "nesting" then they truly are a bit scummy Wink :o

I'm sure getting overly irritated by things us a sure sign of imminent labour Wink

Sorry I couldn't help myself.

In that case this baby's been imminent for about 20 years...
