Anyone else experiencing reduced movement in the hot weather?

Am 25 weeks and have noticed a reduction in movements which has coincided with the hot weather. Spoke to midwife who said she has been getting lots of similar calls and not to worry too much and try an ice cold drink/ prodding belly etc (with the usual advice to go in if I am really worried).

Just wondering if anyone at a similar stage was experiencing similar. Have been feeling movement since week 20 which only really became daily from 22/23 weeks...

Please go in for monitoring and a ctg if you are at all concerned. I'm sure it is just the weather but not worth risking if there is any change in movement pattern

I wish. Little G has been booting me in the guts all day. Cold and fizzy usually does it though - I'm sure your bump will revive as it cools down

Baby just did two big kicks which made my belly move! Thanks for the advice. Seems all is well. Gosh, roll on due date, I'm a bag of nerves with my pregnancy!

Chances are baby is just fine but really, please get it checked if you are worried. It may take an hour or so out of your day and the midwives do not mind. You wouldn't be 'bothering' anyone. Actually I'm quite surprised that the one you spoke to didn't just tell you to come in.

x-posts! good news - I'm a bag of nerves too :)

Yes, flump was very quiet yesterday, and we had an anxious 10 mins as I poked and proded at about 2 in the afternoon - flump normally wakes up and kicks back then quietens down in the day (always has been quiet in the day, is currently kicking the shit out of me, in the usual evening activity!) today has been a lot more active!

elliemay80 · 24/05/2012 20:01

Yeah, karate I had gotten used to the pattern of movements too. Pretty active at about 7 am, don't notice during the day as at work, then pretty active for a bit after work and just before bed. These past few days haven't followed the pattern at all. Had a good 5 kicks since the OP though!

Sorry you're a bag of nerves too Notebook. Will definitely go to the hospital if I go 12 hours without movement again.

I'm in this situation now... I have no idea whether to go in or not. He's kicking a little, and squirming - but not what I'd call a "normal" amount. I have 2 yr old dd asleep upstairs, no one to sit with her or who can be here in less than 2 hours so I'd have to take her with me. And I have an appt at hospital at 9am.

Just spoke to them and they said to try an icy drink. Its worked a little bit - hes kicking a little more.

Im 24+3 and do feel movement sometimes though its not as strong or as often as I'd like.
However, after speaking to others about it, I've been told that as its my first, its often harder to detect some movements as you dont really know what you're looking out for, ie. you might be mistaking it for wind / digestion etc.
Also, babys sleep for about 16 hours a day apparently and when they are awake, you could well be asleep or busy at work etc, so might not notice any movement as much anyway.

I generally feel most movements at night when I am lying in bed and have been waking up about 5-6 in the morning which I think is because of the wriggly baby too so I'm sure with me all is fine and normal.

If anyone is woried though, I suggest they go to get it checked out.
