I'm 36 weeks today and competely and utterly fed up. In an ideal world this baby will come during half term week so I don't have to worry about the school run.

I know sex is meant to be a good one but DH works away and isn't home until July so it isn't possible for me.

I don't mind if they really work or not but I do enjoy reading them all!! Grin

Thanks!!

Orgasms - alone if you are without DH.
nipple stimulation - need to do it for ages though
eating dates - start now 3 or so a day minimum (this is research based)
remaining as active as possible

All the rest are pretty much old wives tales or not advisable in the case of cod liver oil.

Nothing will make you go into labour unless your body is ready however and you are only 36 weeks. Could be another 6 weeks yet!

SIL tried curry, pineapple, bouncing on a trampoline and sex. None of it worked :-(

Weezie85 · 24/05/2012 18:15

Well given I am now 40+1 I am thinking nothing works. Not going to try the cod liver oil as I have heard it can be quite dangerous.
Tried the pineapple enzymes, being going for a really long walk everyday, the nipple stimulation doesn't appear to be working at all. May be expressing wrong though.
Oh well, got a sweep booked in on Monday if nothing gets going. Nevermind.

I can't eat dates. They are vile, I think I'd rather be pregnant forever!!!

Clary Sage Oil. But it is not supposed to be used unless you are already overdue. I had a bath in it whilst in slow labour with dd and I'm sure it helped speed me along.

Be warned though, it reeks. Like mouldy teabags!

McKayz · 24/05/2012 19:09

I have some Clary Sage Oil. But it didn't seem to do anything with DS2. But I'll give it another go this time.

I tried everything with dd, absolutely everything! moxibustion, clary sage, caulophyllum from homeopath, pineapple, sex, reflexology but none of it worked.

My dsis had reflexology and went into labour the next day, her reflexologist is the best I've ever been to.

DarrowbyEightFive · 24/05/2012 19:15

Not an old wives tale, but I went swimming when 38.3 - struggling to even manage one length in the pool - and went into labour 12 hours later. I think the baby had just decided life would be easier on the outside!

Raspberry leaf tea worked wonders for meSmile

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 24/05/2012 19:41

Nothing worked for me.

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Ds2 was 12 days over due and he came out when he was good and ready- the day before I would have been induced.

Don't resort to sex, curry and castor oil. You won't appreciate when you are actually in labour.

IHaveAFeatureWallAndILikeIt · 24/05/2012 19:45

I took raspberry leaf tablets in the third trimester and ds was 4 days early

McKayz · 24/05/2012 19:53

I've been taking the raspberry leaf tablets so fingers crossed.

Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to tone the uterus to make contractions more effective and therefore labour easier - not induce labour.

Commutinghell · 25/05/2012 18:37

I'm watching this with interest! Due on Sunday and ready to get on with it now! I am almost tempted to go and buy dates but I can't stand them!

ladyinthelibrary · 25/05/2012 18:39

Caullophyllum worked for me - but I was already overdue, so maybe DD3 was just ready anyway ...?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 25/05/2012 19:55

lady did you have a short second stage? I do think the raspberry tea and caullophyllum contributed to my 14 minute second stage.
