Waxing Advice

Not sure whether to put this here or in Style & Beauty.

I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and badly in need of top-to-toe defuzzing. Eyebrows, bikini line & legs all need to be done. I've had all done before so not hugely bothered about pain levels etc- prob be easier than labour anyway, right?

I'm not really sure what I'm asking here- basically is it unreasonable to ask a beautician to go near my fanjo with hot wax at 37 weeks pregnant?

you know what,I done this last week, but I thought,I cant see there at the mo,I dont want anyone else to as I dont know what kind of mess it was so I bought some veet you do in the shower,6 mins later I felt better, although saying that Im 35 weeks, god only knows how much longer I will fit through the stupid shaped shower doors my husband fitted the other week.

Funny enough, Veet and I don't get on at all, and I've only ever used it in my legs. It burns like bejesus. So tbh, I don't think I'd ever let it within an ass's roar of my bits. Grin Thank you for the suggestion though.

No it's absolutely fine, I got waxed 2 days before my due date Grin

I had a bikini wax, plus the legs underarms etc the day before I was I induced! 39+2. Was fine. Also got my first ever pedicure as I couldn't really do it myself Grin

I've been waxed all through this pregnancy - at my next one I'll be 40 weeks!

littlemissnormal · 21/05/2012 22:17

Go for it!!! I have, only thing is I found it a bit more painful than usual which the beautician put down to hormones. Don't know if this is true or not!

MummyLuce · 21/05/2012 23:06

If you live in London go to Ministry of Wax - theres one in covent garden and one in Mayfair. I had one here at 32 weeks and it was almost painless. They trim it and stuff too

MissPollysTrolleyed · 22/05/2012 05:53

Totally reasonable but, if you feel nervous, would you try sugaring as an alternative? I find it much less painful than waxing and had it done right up to 40 weeks in my last pregnancy.

ComradeJing · 22/05/2012 06:16

Totally reasonable. I'd tell them you were pg when you book though so if there are any issues you can find out then.

I waxed right through my pg. only weird bit was being asked what I thought and telling her I couldn't see so I'd just have to trust her judgement.

I'm a beauty therapist. Loads of women come all the way through pregnancy. Make sure they use "hot wax" on your fanjo not strip wax as its much less painful. We do brazilians and hollywoods all the way up to due dates and most good therapists are trained in positions to put a pregnant person in to get maximum hair removal :0) I had mine done last week and feel much better I'm 31 weeks. Will go again before due date.... Nice to keep things under control!

Thank you all for your advice. I'm not in London unfortunately - rural Ireland for me. Still, this particular therapist has been recommended so I will call her today and see what she says. Thanks again. Smile
