Hi ladies,

Just after a bit of advice/experiences.

I have had 2 previous healthy natural pregnancies and births. I am a very pro homebirth person and currently 27 weeks pregnant with my third.

I got diagnosed with high blood pressure back in july whilst pregnant with a baby i sadly miscarried, been on labetalol 200mg daily since. My bp is always anything from 120/80 to 140/90 at my appointments been feeling completely fine, i am under the consultant checked regularly but being denied my homebirth (which is another issue)
Anyway since thursday i have been feeling 'not right' bit light headed, low energy mild headache. I have purchased a bp monitor before dashing to the assessment unit and my bp since friday has been 115/57 - 119/62 so quite low in comparison to earlier readings so i have left off my labetalol for the last 36 hours.

Is it possible for my bp to right itself un medicated? I also thought it might be iron levels causing symptoms?

Any thoughts welcome, and yes i am seeing my gp tomorrow to discuss this and get checked.

Thanks

I think lower bp is normal in mid pg so maybe that's why its dipped? Good you're going to see your GP tomorrow though, hope they're helpful.

Hi, just wanted to add that be very careful relying on a home blood pressure monitor before you check it against your GPs or consultants readings at the same time. I had PE I'm previous pregnancy, was very poorly and had emergency c section at 33 weeks. Am pregnant again and was getting some high readings at home 160/100 range, so was on verge of having medication, however on checking it against consultants readings my machine was giving readings approx 15 points higher than my actual blood pressure. It was a brand new machine and not a cheap one either. I would go and check your machine before changing your medication. Best of luck.

Your blood pressure can do all sorts while pregnant and iron could also be a factor, so if you mention it to your midwife she can request a simple blood test.

I have always been anaemic and always had low blood pressure, I've always had headaches, dizzy spells and fainting so have to try and make sure I eat and drink regularly and always stand slowly. Low blood pressure isn't a dangerous to your baby, it's just a pain for you if you're feeling dizzy etc. but mention it to your midwife and make sure you eat and drink often because don't forget the baby takes your nutrients too. But I would see what reading the midwife gets. 115/58 is the highest my blood pressure has been my entire pregnancy and I'm now 37 weeks. At it's lowest it dropped to 80/50 but I've spoken to various midwives etc and they've all said that low blood pressure is definitely prefered to high and not a serious concern.
