Bleeding at 26 weeks

Hi
I was 26 weeks on Tuesday and this morning when I went to the loo and wiped there was some brown dried blood, I rang the assessment unit who said to rest for an hour, put a pad on and ring them back with an update.
After the hour when I looked there was some brown blood on the pad I rang them and they said to come in.
They said my temp was slighty high and my pulse was fast but as I have been suffering with a flu type virus over the last couple of days, very hot/cold and achy and coughing loads it could be that.
They did an internal and the doctor said the cervix was closed and there was no active bleeding even though at the time there was and still is brown blood coming out especially when I cough!
Theve said to monitor for 48 hours incase of any bright red blood and that I would have to go consultant led care if there was :(
Any body have this happen to them and could it be down to being unwell and simply strained something from the coughing?

miaboo didn't want to see your post go unanswered.

My situation was rather different as I was bleeding bright red. Fingers crossed yours stays brown, as that indicates old blood and not fresh bleeding.

It can be very difficult to determine the cause of bleeding in the third trimester, but I would expect if you are not having fresh bleeding, they would just ask you to be vigilant.

I hope someone else will be along soon with a more comparable experience, but try to stay calm and not worry (easier said than done, I know) Smile

It's good that it's brown blood, your cervix is closed and no active bleeding - those are all really good signs.

If it turns bright red definitely go straight in. I am currently in hospital after my third bleed (22, 27 and 28 weeks), multiple bright red bleeds, passing clots and everything. :( Luckily baby is blissfully unaware and mine is due to a very low lying placenta that's not moving out he way...

I've no idea if it's down to being unwell or straining, did the assessment unit say it could be this? Everything you describe sounds positive though, it is really really scary though, but try not to worry.

And consultant led care just means they look after you a bit more and check up on you and baby more often.

Good luck :) wishing you all the best. Thanks

I'm really sorry, Blush, I can't believe I say 'try not to worry'...!!! That is impossible (I know that!), but try not to worry excessively... is what I mean, or rather try and stay positive... :o x x
