Hello,

I've joined here because i've thought about this too much myself and all the information is just buzzing my head!!

Was at work the other day and realised I've missed a period and was six days late for one!! my last period finished on the 10th of march and i had sex on the eleventh ( i was taking the pill but not consistently) , since then i haven't really thought about it , but these past two weeks i've been feeling bloated, sore boobs, felt sick, need to wee allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the time and can't stop eating wotsits! also everything i eat tastes like nail varnish remover andmy mum has a cup of coffee and i could smell it from the other side of the room and it made me want to throw up!!

I did a home pregnancy test (which was not the first urine of the day) which flashed up positive but looked at it later and it was a definite negative, then went to the doctors and expecting results back from them tomorrow!! I keep telling myself im not but everything is leaning against that !! if it comes back negative should i ask for a blood test or am i just being abit over the top??

Please help x

What do you mean it flashed up positive? Was it a clearblue digital? It's not unheard of to ovulate that quickly after finishing a period, but it is certainly unusual.

It was a clearblue but not digital, when the test was working it showed positive for about 30-40 seconds, x

Ok...a few facts first...

  • I know for sure that I have conceived both my children the day after my period finished...so that is definitely possible.
  • False positives are unusual in pregnancy tests...they are pretty damn accurate these days. Also, the time that you need to look at the result is fairly clearly indicated on the packaging. Usually about 5mins after peeing on them. Looking much later or earlier will not give an accurate result...ie. the urine could evaporate and the test line fade if you look much later on.
  • you have done the right thing going to your GP for a test!

Don't think too far ahead at this time - however hard! Wait for the results from your GP. If you find that hard (and I would!!) then maybe invest ina a Clearblue Digital test and see what it says too...

I have to admit all that you are saying is leaning more towards a positive result than a negative...BUT...not necessarily...our bodies do strange things sometimes!

I hope that you have good support if the result is not what you want...we are all stronger than we realise in truly trying times!

If it was not a digital and it appeared to flash up positive as the test was working and then disappeared then it may just have been an evaporation line as the test ran over the ink, so perhaps you don't need to panic yet :)
As Flighty said, they are pretty accurate but you do need to look at the right time frame, and you did do the right thing going to the doctor.
I also fell pregnant this time early on in my cycle.
I hope you get the answer you want :)

It's certainly not unusual to conceive the day after your period finishes, as this happened to me with my DD!

Like others have said, it does sound like you are pregnant, but I think patience and a cool head is the key right now.

Best of luck to you whatever you are hoping for.
