i have a csection at 35 weeks and will be in mid july, so this is what im planning but would like to know if its ok

prem clothes: 6 sleepsuits/baby grows, mittens, hats and bibs (i have not brought vests/body suits as when he will be prem the weather will be warm/hot (mid july) and i think sleepsuits/baby grows are enough for hopefully the short time he will be in them..plus i got blankets :). and when he will be in the newborn clothes ill add on the vests/bodysuits underneath as itll be colder for that extra layer?

obviously this is just me guessing to how big he'll be and on the weather etc but let me know what you think please if this plan sounds ok to you..i will change things if when hes born there are any unexpected surprises though lol so this is just a minimum preperation thing :)

btw the prem clothes are 5-8llb and i got a little cardigan for when he goes out

I think you will certainly want some vests in the prem size to take in your hospital bag with you, I think the midwives would be alarmed if you didn't have any vests, a small baby will lose body heat quite quickly.

I would also get another cardy and probably a lightweight pramsuit, but obviously you've no idea what the weather will be like, you can still get some chilly days/evenings in July. (You may get away with a pramsuit in newborn size which would last a bit longer) These things will be worn for a fairly short time so have a look in Asda or somewhere like that rather than getting anything too expensive. HTH, good luck! Smile

I would get a couple of cardigans because he's bound to throw up all over one!

I think it's wise not to get to much. You can always buy more if he's a particularly sicky baby, and people will just LOVE a reason to go out and buy the tiniest baby clothes so you'll probably get given some to.

I would buy some short sleeve vests though. DS was born at the end of June. His temperature dropped after the birth so even though it was warm out he was still in a vest, babygrow and cardigan. After that they were useful for really hot days, when he wore only a vest.

Also re the vests, if it does turn out we are baking in a big heatwave come July(!) then baby might just want a vest on its own around the house once your home. Having vests covers all possibilities!

Agree that a few vests wouldn't go amiss. DS was born in a mini-heatwave at the end of April last year, we were in a south facing hospital room for 2 days and all he wore most of the day was a vest.

I think you need some vests too.
If you don't want to spend alot on them I have a few that I've somehow managed to acquire as part of bundle packages that I could pop in the post for about £5/6. They won't be of any use to me-I had a growth scan yesterday and at 36 weeks they reckon my boy already weighs 7lb 3!!!
