As long as you get properly fitted then any bra is fine Smile

H&M and Next (online) do decent basic maternity clothes, and some branches of ASDA have quite a nice range in, even if it only tides you over until you get something a bit fancier (if that's what you want!)

John Lewis did an excellent fitting for me, though not as big a choice as some places.

Seraphine.co.uk do gorgeous maternity & I believe Jo Jo Maman Bebe do maternity bra fittings - they do nice maternity wear as well

Might not be the sort of thing you'd like, but I got a fertile minds superbra online - its not like a proper bra, more like a crop top that just comes in small-medium or medium-large sizes. I wasn't sure if it would be supportive enough (I'm fairly large chested), but thought it was worth a try to avoid buying expensive bras that I might have to replace a few months later if I got even bigger. It turned out to be really comfy and reasonable support (for now - I'm only 22wks).
Clothing-wise New look seem to have quite a good, reasonably priced, maternity range (at least online).

Bravissimo are very good for bras - its a limited choice of non-wired bras but they are super comfy and they fit them so well.

Clothing wise I did buy a few dresses in the next size or two up which worked well for the first five months or so. H&M do some great casual tops. I had a gorgeous dress from Dorothy Perkins that I lived in because it looked good for work for for socialising. And Seraphine too, definitely - I got a pair of slim legged black trousers from there that were perfect for work, they cost a bit more but were worth it as they lasted my entire pregnancy and still looked quite stylish.

Ebay is also worth checking out, even if its just for casual clothing.

I'd second Bravissimo. In my first pregnancy I got bras from M&S and Mothercare. This time round I've gone for bravissimo and honestly they are so much more fantastic.

Anita maternity and nursing bras are brilliant - expensive, but brilliant. They stretch with you as you get bigger, then smaller, then bigger again.
If you get a strong colour; eg black or red, then they last and last - the white ones do go grey pretty quickly which is a bit depressing...

Just my two-penny's worth but after several mistakes in the bra-buying dept, I can thoroughly recommend Amoralia ; especially their second skin (either organic cotton or microfibre) bras. They support, separate, lift and you can wear the under low cut or wrap-over tops and they don't just squoosh it all together in a lump like some I've tried!

Trousers from Seraphine are great (and their leggings). Neither of these are cheap options I'm afraid, but well worth it not to feel like a sack of potatoes!

Lexiesgirl · 14/05/2012 16:49

Yes, to second what susurrant says, you don't want to feel like a sack of potatoes so, as well as good bras, decent trousers can make a whole world of difference. I felt as though if I was wearing good trousers that fit than I could wear cheaper (H&M, New Look etc) tops and still feel good at work. A really good pair of jeans helps too. I had a pair of Topshop skinny jeans that made me feel more like myself. Oh, and Debenhams have quite a good maternity range too.

I had 2 Anita bras that I loved to death (many months later and having seen me through pg and bf to 9 months - and beyond!!).

As for clothes, I got one good pair of black trousers (Formes) and a jacket to go with it, which I wore all the way through. I had a few shorts that were a bit large, so while I got 1 pg shirt, I mostly used black and white plain Mothercare vests (the kind that were sleeveless but to the edge of the sleeve IYKWIM) under an open shirt so I didn't get too hot but looked respectable. A couple of plain black, white and 1 fuschia PG top from H&M (plain long sleeves, some round some v necks) too for variety. Would have killed for a pair of denims or combats but couldn't find any that worked on me. I did get a formes a line denim skirt though, and a long black cardi that tied in the middle which I usually wore over the black trousers or denim skirt and black tops or jumpers (it was middle of winter), with a black pashmina over the top on really cold days (couldn't justify a new coat). And my old reliable M&S woollen jumpers (mostly polo necks) stretched all the way out and back again afterwards, which was great - the real lambswool ones.
