Hi
I turn 32 weeks whilst on holiday in June and so need a policy that basically will cover the labour , birth and aftercare should I need it, I have no complications so fingers crossed wont need it but rather to be safe than sorry!
Has anyone needed travel insurance lately and where did you go for it?, All the policy wording is getting really confusing and I just want to crack on with it now! :)

Hi, where are you going? If in Europe, do you have an EHIC card?

I have heard it is difficult to find travel insurance to cover the actual birth or aftercare for the baby. I think someone else mentioned the Coop - I'll try to find the post...

I have Tesco travel insurance and they cover everything. Even if you are going to Europe although the free EHIC card will cover the medical bills, it doesn't cover the costs of missed flights, extra hotel dates, etc. that you might need if a complication arises. I recently went on holiday to America when I was 30-33 weeks and I phoned and asked repeated questions about what Tesco cover and don't cover, I was satisfied they would cover all my needs. Make sure your airline company is okay with you traveling at 32 weeks though, if you are going by air that is.

Hi
I'm going to Lanzarote and do have the EHIC card I've checked with the airline (Thomas Cook) and they take you up to 34 weeks with a fit to fly note so hopefully I'm sorted if I can sort this bit out! I'll look at co-op and Tesco now, Thank you xxx

This thread is quite good:

Looks like you should get in touch with BIBA. Try to find this post and read down from there:

In case anyone is still looking for travel insurance, after much searching I have finally found someone who will provide travel insurance up to 36 weeks pregnancy. I found them through contacting the British Insurance Brokers Association. The company are called PHA (0845 634 2500) and the insurance package is with a company called IHA. They will cover you for up to £170,000 of medical expenses for you/baby as long as you conceived naturally and are only carrying one child.#

For a 10 day trip to Italy in May when I will be 34 weeks it cost me £54 - quite steep when you compare it to annual cover, but for the peace of mind I think it's worth it.

The company haven't asked for any medical reports or anything - the policy seems really comprehensive (and covers you for all the usual travel cover e.g. lost luggage, delays etc) and it took 5 minutes to organise.
