Hi, just wondering if anyone could help..., I live in DR Congo, Kinshasa, where my husband works as a development / aid worker.

Last time I was pregnant, I came back to the UK for my scans but we lived closer then. This time we live far further away and with a baby, I probably won't come back to the UK for all the tests, but will try to do them here.

I'd therefore like a comprehensive list of all medical checkups, scans, appointments and dates that I should be aware of and that I would be following if I was in the UK and under the NHS - does anyone have a list or know of an internet link where I could find this??

Thank you!!!

congratulations pinkposey, I am in the same situation as you, maybe slightly worse off, as I live in Afghanistan and going back home to London when 33 weeks pregnant in June.

I used the book on this link quite useful: www.stgeorges.nhs.uk/docs/services/maternity/Pregnancy_Book_DH.pdf

Many of the tests recommended in the book were not available here, including the anomaly scan as well as gestational diabetes test. Another problem I had was the eagerness of doctors here to prescribe medicines to pregnant women. I was prescribed heaps of medicines which I just didn't take. The only thing that worries me a lot are the possibility of actually giving birth here, as the doctors here just do s C section when faced with the slightest problem including a labour that lasts more than a few hours.

Wish you best of luck.
