Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience:

I'm week 39/40 (discrepancy between EDD based on last period and my known conception date) of my pregnancy and had high BP at dr's surgery a week ago. Dr advised me to get my own BP monitor, which I did, and every reading seems to be high - round 140/90, with lower number sometimes going up to 95/96. But at dr's again today, it was down to 130/75 or thereabouts, which is fine. I'm worried that dr might induce me b/c of high BP, perhaps unnecessarily, particularly as the official BP monitor at the hospital seems to indicate normal BP, and i wondered if anyone else had had similar experiences / BP, and what did it mean? I live abroad, btw, but look to the doctors in the UK as best practice!

Thanks in advance

Have they given you those paper strips to test your pee for protein? I had high blood pressure in both my pregnancies, and I found having the testing strips incredibly reassuring. The surgery gave me a huge packet and whenbi ws feeling particularly hypochondriac I tested every time I went to the loo!

I never had any protein by the way, and both my babies were full term and fine.

Stressing about your bp is likely to put it up. Also I have a lot more confidence in the reading taken at the doctors. My bp does funny things sometimes, the protein strips would be a good idea if you really are worried.

thank you for your replies - i did have a urine test at the lab, and it came back clear or clear enough. but no, they haven't given me protein strips - i wonder if it's something that they sell at the chemist..
so i should only be worried if it leads to PE, but not so much about the high BP itself?

Certainly they told me that the BP itself wasn't an issue- but I had to be very alert for other symptoms. I also had a couple of extra scans both times, but I can't remember what they were looking for. I think it was to make sure that the plcenta was still functioning properly.
