maternity wear

Buying maternity wear is a pain. I went shopping today and found nothing in my size. I'v some jeans and work trousers from next but I need some shirts and tops.
I can't find shirts for work anywhere and I want some tops that are not strtchy/clingy or sleeveless! Ideally a bit loose with 3/4 length sleeves.

Any ideas?

Might be a bit casual for work, but I've got a few tops from white stuff. Not maternity, but more empire line so should last me most of the way through

Can I just say, the first time I went shopping for maternity wear i actually cried as there was nothing out there at all. I was even informed by some woman in John Lewis that "no one buys maternity wear any more" wtf?!

I've bought everything off Seraphine.co.uk - they have beautiful clothes at very reasonable prices so please have a look there - their sizing is fantastic too. Vertbaudet do really comfy pyjamas too. Good luck & congrats on your pregnancy!

All my mat clothes have come from Ebay, with the exception of one top from TopShop (which is basically a top in a bigger size, there's nothing 'maternity' about it as such.

Good luck with your search though! :)

I'd try H&M. I was in there yesterday and they had several shirts which were 3/4 length and which were really nice - i'd have happily worn them to work or out. Available online too if you don't have a store near you.

Asos.com is great. I've just bought a load of tops, a pair of yoga pants, a maxi dress and a shorter dress. I also recommend Gap jeans. I have a boot cut and a skinny pair. I plan to get some vests with built in bra bit from Gap for yoga/slobbing about.

Last preg I just bought larger sizes and dh's t-shirts which was fine until the end when only maternity tops would go over the bump. I wore PJs at home so I only needed a couple of pairs of trousers and I had smart maternity trousers and stretchy tops for work.

H&M also good and cheap but online stock is poor.

Thanks everyone. I'll have a look at the suggestions.

I went shopping for maternity wear yesterday and nearly ended up crying too. There was NOTHING decent for work - all far too casual/clingy. I gather online is the way forward - they have far wider ranges online than in the shops, but at this point I'm really keen to try things on before shelling out since I need to wear them LIKE NOW (20 weeks and business dress required at work, so I can't just wear leggings.) Very annoying. I will try Seraphine, that is a new one on me (thanks applecrumble)

There's loads of clothes about at the moment with pleated fronts or a-line shapes that will go over a bump. Anything loose and flowing will probably see you through until 7 months.

farmerswifey · 06/05/2012 18:11

I've had some lovely things from MamasandPapas. Now at 7ish months I find layering seems to help me still look presentable as things do tend to be a little clingy.

funchum I absolutely love seraphine and they have loads of smart stuff perfect for work. They also have a link to a website called Shoetherapy.co.uk which sell ballet flats designed for pregnancy & lower back pain - lovely well made shoes & v comfy

funchum8am · 06/05/2012 18:36

I have just had a look at Seraphine and it has loads of stuff that will work brilliantly for me at work - will also have a look at the shoes. (I can highly recommend Clark's brogues - bought a pair last week for walking to work as I get heavier and they've been fabulous.) Thank you for the recommendatin!
