I haven't got time to get on a course as having a bit of a house moving drama, but wanted to read a book about it......any suggestions?

I'm reading this one, inadvertently getting the one by the woman who founded hypnobirthing.

But the introduction, about her own birth experiences, leading to her founding hypnobirthing, made me cry my eyes out. You have been warned!

Hello - I'm also reading the marie mongon book, called Hypnobirthing:The Mongon Method (worked out cheaper on ebay). I must be hard or miserable as her stories did not make me upset. It all makes good sense and the reasons behind the terror, pain etc seem very logical. The relaxation CD which came with my book which is very good. I'm going to get the chance to use it in 10 days at the latest, so not too sure how it will pan out, but I'm going into the whole thing alot more positive than the first time. I have not done the course as we have recently moved house, and there is always something that gets in the way - hopefully the book will help on it's own, but I do wish I'd done the course to maximise the chances of a smoother experience. Good luck book hunting:)

Hahaha yes, I think it was just the bit about being strapped down - shocked me so much, I cried tears of outrage!

Mine didn't come with a CD :( I wuz robbed! I got a separate CD by Maggie Howell

Can't believe they used to strap women down - I see what you mean. The relaxation CD is great, but I found the bit about bonding with your baby a bit, you know - out there. I have not made my DH listen to it as I know what he'd do. I think partner participation is very much advocated, but he wouldn't take it seriously so I'm going to tell him to keep it closed and let me try it on my own. Last time I was in labour any stroking/verbal input from him just wound me up!
