sharp pains in what feels like my cervix?

I have just spoken to the midwife assessment unit as am getting these awful pains but not very regularly and I suspect they are to do with the baby's position. They are intense when they come which the midwife said did not sound right-they feel like that pushing horrible pain at the end of a labour contraction-but without the contraction.

Anyway she said I could come in but she sounded unsure as to whether I need to, my guess is she thinks I don't but can't say so.She said possibly SPD but that I should probably just get them check-unless they die off if I lie down. Thing is they arent regular so I may not get more till this evening, they do seem to happen when the baby moves around so I bet I am being over the top if I go in but otoh when they happen it is serious pain. What to do?

Can't go anywhere till I have reached my parent sand asked them to collect dd anyway and if they can't I will have to wait till DH is home. It does feel silly when the pains are so irregular and spaced out.

How far along you OP?

I am sure it will be fine as the MW would have chivvied you in to be checked out if she was concerned. FWIW I had sharp pains around 21 weeks, I had a scan to check everything and it turned out it was the little person tap dancing on my cervix - she'd just grown big enough to put enough pressure on it for me to feel it. It was pretty ouchy but turned out to be fine.

I used to get very sharp pain in my cervix when I was pregnant. It happened occasionally and used to come and go. I've no idea why I had them but my pregnancies were completely uneventful otherwise and I had no problems giving birth. I did mention it to a GP and midwife and they didn't think anything of it.

I am nearly 35 weeks. I bet it is positional because its when the baby moves mostly. Horrendoous pain for maybe 3-5 seconds when it happens then nothing and its unpredictable.

Can't get hold of anyone to collect dd so can't go in for a while now and it seems so silly when I am not getting the pain regularly but I bet if I ring and cancel it gets worse again!

The midwife said lie down and have a hot bath and see if it goes-but I should get them to check. Thing is I havent laid down and they have still stopped because they are only every now and then!

neolara I think the midwife wasn't that bothered-think they just can't say leave it iyswim. It really will be difficult to get there today, can't even reach DH at work as his phone bat seems to have gone and obviously dd needs collecting, she also has speech therapy to go to after school and then I am seeing a friend who is only in the country one night, I really don't want to go in but don't want to not have the option if it gets worse iyswim.

That sounds exactly what I had. Hope it turns out to be nothing.

Thanks. rang the unit and said despite me not lying down I still hadn't had more pain and they said its ok to not go but to go if it starts again. Very odd as they are so irregulara dn not always when I am moving around, can be sat down, walking around or lying in bed.
