Flying with no Diazepam -eek

Hi all

Am 17 weeks, wil be almost 18 when I fly on Thurs.

HATE it but want to carry on doing (plus I need the holiday!) Normally take 5mg dose of diazepam, which I know I can't do so I have some rescue remedy which I used on my blood tests and found pretty ineffective and I sprayed it in my mouth about a million times :)

Is there anything else anyone can recommend? No time for hypnotherapy or anything like that (should have thought of sooner!)

I think Kalms are also a no no?

TIA

When in hospital at 23 weeks pregnant with DS1 (was there for two weeks) and really, really couldn't sleep the night before a scan that was going to tell me whether he was going to live or if I would have to terminate for medical reasons, I was given a temazepam which is the same family as diazepam and has a similar effect.

I think you'd be best speaking with your GP about what they can prescribe (and there WILL be something) as you being in a heightened state of anxiety is no good for either you or the baby. No doubt you will spend some of your time on holiday dreading the return flight home too, so I really think it's worth having a word with the doctor.

Where are you going?

Speak to your Dr. I was offered a course of diazepam when I was about 14 weeks. I refused, but the Dr was happy to prescribe it for a short period where there was no risk of dependence. If they don't want to give it to you even as a one off, they might have an alternative.

Thanks Manda, may just try that, hadn't realised there was such a thing!
Going to Kefalonia for a week. Been there before in 2007 and got engaged there too, so will be lovely :)

Yup, everything turned out fine - he was perfectly healthy although now as a 14 year old he gives me a few headaches!

So, get to the gp and have a fab holiday, sounds just the ticket Smile
