Back ache

I'm 10wks pg and I am already suffering from painful lower back ache. I can cope with it at home but I work 2 days a week and spend 8 hrs sat infront of a computer. By the time I get to my 2nd shift I can barely sit down and now spend my time pacing around my desk. They have given me a special chair to support my back and I have spent this weekend with a hot water bottle and cusion(sp?) but it doesn't seem to help. Any advice would be great, can the dr's do anything? And is there any way I can make this better? I can't cope with another 30 wks!

Nothing to offer in the way of advice, I am suffering also.............26 weeks and it's not getting any better!

I used one of those 'heat up' bean bag things. You shove them in the microwave to warm them up and then I used to sit with it on my back where it hurt. I found it good because of the heat which was soothing and also because it was beans it moulded to my shape IYSWIM and gave some support.

How horrible for you. I don't know if its possible at work, but if you can, get on all fours for a while and arch your back up (like an angry cat). Also rocking back and forth while on your hands and knees helps. Hope it gets better soon - I had the same when sitting at a computer for hours, but i work from home, so can do silly exercises without embarrasement!

Going to have to give the angry cat thing a bash, had a bath and still in agony......

calvemjoe · 18/02/2006 21:44

Thanks for all your advice, I gave up on weds and went to the docs and he says is caused by swelling caused by a car crash I had 4 weeks ago, and there isn't much they can do for the next 29 weeks
The hot water bottle helps a bit and the angry cat is geat at reliving it when its bad, although my work mates think i'm losing it...

I had one of those big blow up gym balls - admittedly I was using it at home in front of the telly rather than work. It forces you to sit up straight rather than slump so that over time your back muscles strengthen. Initially it was tiring as my back muscles weren't used to having to work but as they strengthened over time I did get less back ache. However if I did get back ache I could then kneel on the floor and slump over the ball which relieved the ache. I think it cost about £7 from Argos and was the best £7 I spent for my pregnancy.

Thanks for that, I already have one so I think it's time to blow it up!

Posterior Pelvic pain?

I have this along with symphysis pubis dysfunction and it is painful. I have had it since about 10 weeks with this baby.

Go to the doctor and tell him about it. they may refer you to physio therapy.

calvemjoe · 19/02/2006 17:18

Thanks helsi, I'll give that a go, they take you a bit more seriously when you have a name for it.

I have it!! Bloody miserable it is too! Also got spd kicking in and sciatica.
You can get those heat pads in Poundland (5 for a quid) and they do ease it. The one time I'm not in pain is in the bath, it's heavenly .
I might look into those birthing balls and see if they help.

calvemjoe · 19/02/2006 17:53

I know what you mean HellKat, I'm spending hours in the bath!
