Ideas for a holiday at 28 weeks

Hi all.

I've got a week's annual leave at the end of June, I'll be 28 weeks pregnant. I have glued almost all the rest of my annual leave onto the front of my Mat leave so this will be my first annual leave since March. Hubby and I want to go somewhere nice and a bit romantic before freedom ends in September! We usually do lots of walking and stuff like that, but I'm thinking I'll be too tired for anything more than short walks. We like photography, nice scenery, a bit of culture.

It obv needs to be somewhere in the UK as I'll be in my last trimester.

Any suggestions?

Just thought I'd point out that it doesn't at all need to be in the UK at just 28 weeks but maybe you have other reasons for wanting to holiday here! Cornwall, Lakes? I'd head for somewhere in Europe myself for a nice change of scene, Italy lovely in June.

I had read somewhere that airlines and insurance companies are a bit difficult about it, and they want a note from your Dr or MW to say you'll be ok. But now I look into it a bit more I can't see many problems.

I was looking at Cornwall but it's so expensive I think it will be cheaper to go abroad. So I probably would go abroad if I can.

How about the Cotswolds? DH and I stayed in a LOVELY little pub in the village of Chipping Campden for 2 nights after our wedding last year.

It's called The Eight Bells, and is really lovely, full of old beams and plenty of character, and nice cosy rooms www.eightbellsinn.co.uk/

If you can, book room 7, it is lovely! The breakfasts are awesome, loads of choice and lovely local produce. They do a mean dinner too in the dining room, and cheaper bar food in the bar. The village is pretty cute, not much else to do there - but you're in short driving distance of lots of lovely places including Stratford on Avon....you could go see a play at the RSC if that's your thing?

Wherever you end up, hope you have a nice 'babymoon'!

x

You could also travel somewhere on a ferry or Eurostar if you don't want to fly.
Ireland?
France?
Northern Spain?
Holland?

Europe is your oyster.

Yes I would go on Eurostar as Ecgwynn suggests and stay somewhere quiet and relaxing in France and eat lots of cheese and french bread and croissants

I will be flying to Italy (weekend in Florence) at 29 weeks next week and have been told all I need to do is get a letter from my doc to say I am ok. Intend to grab hold of that this week. Cheap easyjet flight and mine and DH's last weekend abroad as just the two of us! Shame I can't quaff that lovely Italian wine...

I'm going to Torbay, Devon at about 31 weeks. Lots of walks and nice scenery but wouldn't really say loads of culture unless you count things like National Trust properties (there are quite a few around there). I love it there as there's so much to do and plenty of places to eat out. Plus we usually seem to get lovely weather there.

The Highlands of Scotland! Epecially the north west coast, lovely wild scenery, plenty of walks to choose from, great food, castles everywhere to visit. I was there at 29 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I went to Lisbon at around 28 weeks almost two years ago and it was lovely. Lots of gorgeous hotels for next to nothing, nice food and pleasant weather. Lots of steep hills but we just got taxis everywhere.
