Hi everyone. Im 30 weeks and for the last week and a half Ive been getting a pain right across the top of my bump that gets worse as the day goes on but dosnt bother me at night. I saw my midwife today and she thought it was strange but didnt seem too concerned. She thought it could be ligaments or my ribs stretching or my uterus being a bit irritable. It can get quite intense and feels like a badly pulled muscle. I was just wondering if this was normal and if anyone else experienced this and of so, did you find anything that eased the pain a bit? Its getting me down a bit. Thanks

I have one particular muscle/ligament/insert other here that is particularly painful at this stage of pregnancy (DC4 here) its to the top right of my bump and feels like its very stretched, it hurts quite alot but goes away as soon as I've given birth so I assume its nothing to worry about.

Hi, I started a thread on this just last week! I'm 33 weeks and have had a bruise like pain at the top left of my bump for a week now. It was so bad on Friday I thought I was going to pass out and I went down to the MAU. No one had a clue what it was so I've diagnosed myself via Dr Google! I'm going with muscle/ligament pain.

It hurts every day and is only lessened by sitting on my fat arse resting. I've got another 3 weeks at work and am counting down the days!

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks guys, sorry for the delay in replying but have been a bit under the weather for a few days.
mousebacon - it does feel exactly like a really bad bruise/torn muscle. I can only liken it to when I did tear a muscle (when I used to exercise!)
Thanks for the reassurance that its not another thing for me to get stressed about!

I don't want to be a panic-monger but upper abdomen pain should always be checked out ASAP, especially if you have any kind of raised blood pressure or proteinuria, or other odd symptoms like swollen hands, headaches, visual disturbances, nausea, severe fatigue etc. It could be the epigastric pain which is a symptom of pre-eclampsia.
