34 weeks and reduced movements - when to worry?

Since yesterday my babys movements have reduced I lots. She was active for a little while yesterday afternoon, briefly last night after I ate and was moving when I woke this morning. However, the movements are a lot less than usual and though I've been sat down working for the past two hours with drinks and snacks there's been no movements. Should I worry/call midwife or is this normal at 34 weeks?

Yes you need to be monitored asap, ANY change in your baby's regular pattern should be checked out.

Please call the unit now.

Just to echo random phone them ASAP reduced movements always need to be checked. Often it's not a problem but should always be investigated ASAP.

Good luck x

Ring your MW, local maternity unit.
They never mind and if they say go in for monitoring go!

It really is better to be safe than sorry.

Definitely phone now.

Sorry to be blunt but if anything is going wrong at 34 weeks your baby can be delivered.

It would be utter madness to not react to an early warning.

In all likelihood there will be nothing wrong but why risk it.

Good luck

I'm at 35 weeks and had a check for this last week - had a heart trace and a scan, and all was well. No-one made me feel at all bad for contacting them, I hadn't even finished explaining what was wrong when they said "see you when you get here". In my case, baby was found to have moved to head-down from being breech, so that may explain the change in movements. It would be unbearable to have waited if there is actually something wrong.

Definitely call your MW or delivery ward, I had this a couple of weeks ago at 31 weeks, and they said I did absolutely the right thing. Chances are that everything is fine, but please don't take a chance x
