Hello ladies I need some help!
For the second time this week, a comment has been made that "i should be moved" and "that's the trouble with......"

I feel so upset, I pull my weight every shift and more when short staffed. Now that I'm pregnant I have be told by my GP not to handle hazardous stubstances. That means chemo wee and poo, other members of staff are perfectly ok with this, there is just a small group that don't. They are the ones that don't like taking poo and wee anyway, and they shout the loudest.

What upsets me the most is this would never be said to the ladies that wears blue. (registared nurses) Plus it is not my sole job to pick up after everyone.

Please help me.
Ew

You need to complain to your line manager, and do it officially. If it carries on, it will amount to nothing less than constructive dismissal - so the earlier you have a log of things, the better IME.

I'm a nurse in psychiatric secure, and I have been immediately taken out of patient care areas. This is incredibly frustrating for me since none of my patients have ever been physically threatening towards me, and I'm not going to be visibly pregnant for a few more months. I managed to negotiate doing ward clerk role, however several of my colleagues still think I should be treated by porcelain and put in the offices away from the wards. Everyone one likes to think they know best, but only you can stand up for yourself so stand your ground, make sure you are getting your supervision from the ward managed on a regular basis and don't let them bully you... use some of that hormonal rage on them!

Has your manager sat down with you and done a risk assessment? Because they have to do this. When they do they will go through with you all those things like that, and anything else it is unsafe to do, and given you a written copy. And if you have this nobody can rightly say anything about you avoiding things that are a risk to you and your baby. If you work for the NHS they should have good structures for dealing with things like risk assessment etc (not to say it always works) and you will have an occupational health department you can turn to for advice too. Also, are you in union- because they could help you if it does go tits up (I'm sure it will be ok though).

You ought to try and discuss your concerns about the group causing you problems with your manager, because its borderline bullying- you shouldn't have to put up wit being treated like that. And you're hardly the first care worker to be pregnant in a job that is mostly women!

As for those nurses/care workers who are grumbling about poo and wee- why don't they get a nice little office job?
