I had PGP in my 1st pregnancy, ended up on crutches, signed off work etc. in mainly went away after dd was born but I still occasionally get twinges. About a 3 months ago it was quite bad and I actually rang the dr to say my hips were hurting like I was 20wks pregnant but that I knew that I wasn't.
Anyway I am currently about 5/6 wks pregnant and today I ran to get out of the rain, I am now lay on the sofa with a nagging ache in my pelvis. Please can somebody reassure me that it isn't a sign of things to come? I'm sure I read before that it doesn't start until about 18-20weeks. Also are u pretty much guaranteed to get it with a 2nd pregnancy if u had it in the first?

About 5 weeks for me.... sorry!

I'm no just approaching 11 weeks and I'm being very strict with my movements/sleeping with pillow between my knees etc and it seems to be pretty under control. I have physio appointment next week and am prepared to pay for chiroprator etc this time round too!

This is my second dc and I'm feeling mushc more clued up about spd so fully ready to attack it head on! I dont think I did enough to help myself last time!

Good luck...I feel your pain! xx

In my first pregnancy I got it at 8 weeks... by 40 weeks I could'nt walk more than 40 paces. In my second pregnancy (two years after DS was born, I never really recovered from the SI joint problem Sad)I got it at 5 weeks. Sadly that became a MMC so not sure how much worse it would have got.

I'm now pregnant again and the first symptom of pregnancy was the PGP again.. so 4 1/2 weeks.
It's torture isn't it? So sorry you're going through this OP.

Can I ask what your first symptoms were? I have what I think could be PGP and if it is it started around 5 weeks. I'm now 9 weeks and waiting for my midwife appointment to mention it to her. But worried about how much worse it could get.

Mine were (and still are) a nagging dull ache in one of my hips, which alternates with a very sharp sudden stabbing pain when I'm walking, or raising one of my legs. Sometimes I feel as if my hip's going to collapse, if you can imagine such a thing. That pain passes very quickly though, then it goes back to the dull ache.

For me, in my first (successful) pregnancy, that dull ache got worse and worse and it was very uncomfortable sleeping or doing anything much really. Walking became so painful that in the end I all but gave up and managed to get to the end of my street only for the last month.

Sorry this probably isn't very reassuring but one of the problems I found with PGP / SI problems is that no one I spoke to ever seemed to have come accross it before. Rest assured, you're not alone.
