Hi
I used to study nutrition a while back... I'm not certain of Mg supplementation in pregnancy, however I do remember that Mg-Taurate is best absorbed as oppose to the other salts such as citrate which can cause diarrhoea.
If you would prefer to not take a supplement, then almonds and avocados are a great source. I eat avocados with BF, lunch and tea just to increase my Mg intake.

Not totally linked, but I take magnesium to help with sleep problems (it's incredible) and have been told it's safe to take during pregnancy. I'm in the first trimester though. I take 100mg.

hi spotty and jessie thanks for replies. I think I will get some in then. I already eat lots of almonds and pumpkin seeds spotty and am still getting horrid cramps even in my hands they sort of lock it's most odd!

I am going to get a good food state one from cytoplan but they have a few so will do some reading up before picking.

Jessie - yes it is good for this I read that. they also (the healthy people) claim that it is good for not having a prem, avoiding low birth rate and better apgar scores. no idea about this as haven't read research but i'm in for some!

I've been prescribed magnesium since my second trimester (100 mg/day) and also iron for my third (50 mg/day). I think it helps with tiredness/anaemia and also the development of the baby.

just re the pumpkin seeds - they actually hinder your absorption of minerals becuase of the phytates in them - its like an anti-nutrient.
There are ways of breaking down phytates such as soaking and fermenting, but takes preparation.
