Hi, I'm 28 weeks and just wondering when the indigestion, acid reflux, trapped wind and general slowing down of my digestive system will end? What are others experiences? Will it go soon after the birth, or do the hormones associated with breast feeding keep it going during the post natal period?

For me, all that settled down straight away. A lot of it is caused by the weight/bulk of the baby, as well as the hormones.

I had horrible heartburn for months but it vanished immediately with birth.

Banjogurl · 17/04/2012 10:37

That's reassuring to hear, thanks all!

I had hideous heartburn when pg with ds, it eased up massively after the birth but took about 2 weeks to completely go. I didn't have heartburn again till the evening before I did my pregnancy test this time round (was my first symptom!!).

Fishandjam · 17/04/2012 11:20

After the birth of DC1 it went within hours (thank goodness). I'm suffering really badly with it now and just looking forward to 10 weeks' time, when (hopefully) DC2 will be here and it will have gone again!

Same here, straight after birth. Thank god. I start burping within hours of a BFP.

Flisspaps · 17/04/2012 12:44

Straight after birth both times Grin

I've been getting heartburn, it's when I eat bread and tomatoes but it's only a little bit uncomfortable, don't need to medicate. Did it start off slow with you guys and get worse or stay the same throughout your pregnancies. I'm 9 weeks.

Flisspaps · 17/04/2012 16:32

Thechick For me it got worse both times

Thechick · 17/04/2012 18:11

Thanks Flisspaps something for me to look forward to. Lol!

For me, it started slow and built up as the baby got bigger, goodness only knows what would have happened if the baby had been even a normal size! I was literally drinking the gaviscon from the bottle (get the liquid if you can, it works quicker!) And then never touched it again after the birth (and I ate some rubbish straight after too!!) Currently eyeing the massive bottle longingly and I'm only 15 weeks!
