I am dreading about returning to college tomorrow, my ms (which lasts all day) has really ramped up over the 2 week holiday period.
College don't know I'm pregnant, as someone who is prone to early mc I haven't told anyone yet (9 weeks) and won't until 12 weeks.

It's a 9.15-2.00 day tomorrow then 9.15-5.15 Tuesday, both days spent in s busy salon, tending to public, paying clients.
I haven't been suck yet but am suffering with crippling nausea, nothing seems to alleviate it, in fact I've been in bed the past 2 days because I have felt so ill.

Taking time off isn't an option unfortunately, I have a fair bit of time off for DS1's medical stuff already and I don't have the time to get all my assessments done and take time off so an 100% attendance until June is a must.

Does anyone have any tips that might help at all? TIA

Errm I ate lots and lots of wotsits (the taste masked the sickness), stay away from anyone drinking tea or coffee, and smile a lot.... it is amazing how dense people can be!
Good luck - morning sickness is horrendous.

I was like this. Well kinda. In the end I got some pills from the Drs. They were the only thing that stopped me throwing up, and I tried all sorts. I wish I could say something more helpful.

I was at uni when pregnant with DS. I had 24 hour nausea for the whole first trimester

I too was keeping it under wraps and found that in a weird way it helped!! As I had to pretend all was normal I couldn't indulge in any self pity and basically had to push it to the back of my mind and carry on as normal. Although I still felt rotten often, it somehow helped psychologically!

I also made sure I drank loads, as I found I was worse when at all dehydrated, bearing in mind that thirst is a later sign of that, so I drank water like it was going out of fashion. I also kept eating lots of fruit as that helped - everyone thought I was on some sort of health kick!!

But though those 3 things helped, there was no getting away from the fact that I felt sick... a lot. i sometimes found myself saying 'it's only temporary' over and over in my head.

Hmmm not sure I am helping now!! Grin ah well, have some sympathy too! Thanks

Oh Yes! and whatever you do don't go near anyone smoking - the smell

GinPalace · 15/04/2012 10:46

OOooo sucking polos helped too.

lollypopsicle · 15/04/2012 11:37

I found eating regularly helped. Even though I really didn't feel like eating, I would force myself and it did help. I mainly used to eat fruit, nuts or rice cakes.

Lyftiduft · 15/04/2012 12:27

lemon squash- I had a big bottle made up, used to sip it all the time. And eating regularly as lolly says. I'm a teacher, used to eat in between each lesson (so every hour) and sip squash the rest of the time!

Thanks for all your help, I'm really hoping this eases up soon, either that or I can attempt working my bum off and finishing the course earlier.

Will go armed with many snacks and drinks, not supposed to eat in the salon but I'm sure I can hide in an empty store cupboard and have a nibble Confused

Tell them you are diabetic and need them Wink

I had to keep eating little and often - dipping into a small bag of almonds saved me quite a few times.

KatieMiddleton · 15/04/2012 18:03

sucking sweets and keeping busy.

Chunkychicken · 15/04/2012 20:10

Am feeling sick 24hrs a day too at the moment (9wks tomorrow) & work as a Science teacher, so can't eat during lessons at all. Have loved the holidays but have discovered that a 'cure' one day will be unpalatable the next day, which is annoying & weird. However, will suggest some ideas...

Suck boiled sweets.

Drink lots of water &/or flavoured drinks, such as lucozade original (be careful, caffeine) or lucozade isotonic (I'm sticking to 'lite' to keep sugar to a minimum!).

Eat little & often (ironically, eating sometimes makes me queasy!)

Fruit ice lollies were also good.(Sainsbury's ones were good but I'm all out now!! :( )

Fresh air & distractions worked well too - just not thinking about it for 1 day was nice, although it may have been a coincidence!!

I'm dreading my day tomorrow, its a long day for me anyway & I tend to throw up once a day at random times. I will tell my dept head and hope I can curb the vomiting in public!! Good luck.

wishiwasonholiday · 15/04/2012 20:10

Water with I've made mine better just sip though.

TheDetective · 15/04/2012 20:16

Chunky - am in the same boat.

What works one day, won't the next.

VERY annoying!

The one thing I have found is sucking on sweets does calm the nausea for the duration of the sweet! Blackcurrant liquorish have been disappearing at alarming rates in this house!

Fresh air also helps a little sometimes.

I've got the travel bands on too, but not convinced about those.

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 15/04/2012 20:19

I had terrible ms with DS. I tried eating something before I even sat up in the morning, I am now an expert at eating digestives lying down!
If I ever fancied something I would have it, I once went on a mammoth lunch time hunt for a chicken mayo sandwich on thick white bread. No point counting calories or GI points as you don't know when you'll be eating again!
Good luck with it. It'll pass eventually, and then you'll really value your health!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 15/04/2012 20:27

I had found that eating continuously helped but now the thought of eating combined with the foul taste in my mouth has me constantly retching, I am eating though after a looong hospital admission with DS1 for dehydration and malnutrition I am not going down that route again!

Rest as much as possible, sleep is best, but failing that just resting.

Fizzy drinks for me this time-lucozade original, Pepsi, bitter lemon, ginger ale, and ice water.

Sweets, hard or chewy. Barley sugar and fruitella are a fave of mine at the mo.

And if I force a ripe banana and a glass of very cold milk down, I always feel better after that.

Good luck!

AliceHurled · 15/04/2012 21:35

Can add a tip based on just just made me spew, don't cough. I find i can keep that the right side of the nausea if I don't cough. One cough and up it comes. Still trying to get it out of my nose now Sad

Firsttimer78 · 15/04/2012 21:37

Fruit pastilles. In vast quantities. I was sure I'd have a healthy baby but stumps for teeth from all the sugar I consumed! Hope it passes soon.

CointreauVersial · 15/04/2012 21:40

Ginger biscuits.

I tried the travel sickness bands too, but not 100% convinced they did everything.

YY about the coughing. With DD2 I had a chest infection and was just spewing for days.

AliceHurled · 15/04/2012 21:40

I always justify the sugar with the fact that the acid in vomit is also bad for the teeth
