it was lovely though but any ideas where to get a nice 1 a whole lot cheaper?

babymel are nice bags, stylish and come in lots of designs at around 60 pounds, there was a discount at jojo maman on change bags, not sure if still on.

vix1980 · 13/04/2012 13:47

Thats the make i was looking at, in mamas and papas it was £129 and on amazon its only £55, i think i have a winner already, thank you!

Have a look at happybags website. Lots to look at, some vvv expensive and lots of reasonable for inspiration

Register with the boots parenting club to get a free one (with a pack of nappies?) If you buy a pram they often come with one or get to TKMaxx: my local one has loads of "designer" ones for £50 ish.

Newtothisstuff · 14/04/2012 23:33

I got an immaculate Pink linings back from eBay for £32 Grin I love it

babybrain3 · 15/04/2012 06:58

Do you get the free boots one if you register online?? Blush

MarieFromStMoritz · 15/04/2012 07:03

I want this one: Oilily changing bag

RecursiveMoon · 15/04/2012 07:08

Definitely get the free Boots one - it's black and plain, so hopefully DP won't mind using it.

Alternatively, Accessorize have some lovely floral / patterned wipe-clean Grin bags at the moment that are lovely and that would also be suitable.

RecursiveMoon · 15/04/2012 07:11

Honestly, I obsessed about choosing the right changing bag, but have had the most use out of the free Bookstart canvas bag so far Grin.

BF / FF probably affects the choice too, as FF means more bits and bobs to carry around.

McPhee · 15/04/2012 07:11

I haven't and it's becoming a much bigger issue in my head than it needs to be Blush

I've spent hours trawling tinternet looking for the perfect bag. I don't think they've made it yet Hmm

javotte · 15/04/2012 08:15

I've never owned a changing bag, and I'm expecting my third.

jaggythistle · 15/04/2012 08:19

the free Boots one has been redesigned since DS was born, i have got myself a new free one for dc2 due in a couple of weeks and i quite like it. Grin

I'm not really a bag person Tbh and ended up with a small rucksack for DS's stuff once entire spare sets of clothes weren't so essential!

buggyRunner · 15/04/2012 08:20

Thought I'd pop on this thread and give a bit of advice. The thing is with a changing bag it will be heavy and slung in your arm- you will sometimes have to carry baby at the same time- then walk holding hands.

It hurts, its heavy and not compatable with daily life (unless slung over pram)

So I heavily reccommend a stylish rucksack.

However, if you want a bag- get one gender neutral- so dp can use it. You will need the dirty clothes bag sack that comes inside. Good straps are a must

AliceHurled · 15/04/2012 08:20

What does a changing bag do that a usual bag doesn't do? Honest question.

buggyRunner · 15/04/2012 08:40

Changing bag is bigger, large strap that goes over pram handle, different pockets for things, bottle sections that keep them warm, fastener that will clam the bag to a trolley, pram so nobody can steal it.

jaggythistle · 15/04/2012 08:44

bottle sections would surely be to keep them cool?

sleepdodger · 15/04/2012 08:44

Don't....
Ds is now 1 & having lusted after Orla kiely bag didn't want to spend £165+ so bought another one, hardly used it, found nice shopper style oilcloth better
If I was starting again would get nice across body bag, a fold up change mat and a small make up bag for mini sudocrem etc, chuck everything else in!
Much cheaper, sexier bag sorry I don't like the yummy mummy stuff & can use it not as change bag in years to come unless I forget the sleepless nights & do it all again Wink

buggyRunner · 15/04/2012 08:45

Could be (never done the bottle thing so wouldn't know) Grin

AliceHurled · 15/04/2012 08:49

Thanks buggy

jaggythistle · 15/04/2012 08:51

me neither but carrying warm milk about is A Bad Thing for bugs growing. :)

the pockets are handy but i didn't really hang mine on the pram. any decent sized bag will prob do once there aren't so many poo explosion clothes to bring home!

wee change mat is good but came free with the Boots bag too. i took dirty stuff home in a nappy sack myself. Blush

mamij · 15/04/2012 08:55

The skiphop ones are quite good. They come with straps to hang on the buggy and can be converted to an across the body bag.

Kaloobear · 15/04/2012 09:03

We bought an expensive Pacapod, used it about 3 times before realising it was considerably heavier than the baby and gave up. Massive waste of money.

It's just a bag...

I now use a lightweight plastic lined A4 size bag (Cath Kidston sale) that fits everything in and doesn't kill my back. Especially important if you're going to use a sling and don't have a pram to hang the bag off.

cherrypieplum · 15/04/2012 09:04

I've just ordered a lovely radley one from eBay. I was miffed it smelled a little smokey after being listed as n/s but a handwash cycle and it's fine. My husband offered me a new one but I'd rather have a bag I'd use for years if
I'm paying full whack. Like Marc Jacobs! :)
