Hello - Looking for some advice as not really go the time to trawl the internet, and sure I will get some more realistic advice here:)

I am 33 weeks and 6 days and being induced in 4 weeks (medical reasons). It is my 2nd pregnancy, all was fine and delivered normally with 1st. The scan shows this baby is in breech and they seem to be a bit concerned.

Firstly, what are the chances of the baby turning? When do they usually do this? Secondly, is it normal/easy to deliver a breech baby? Oh, and thirdly, what's it like if the midwives try to turn the baby? Does it hurt/is it easy? Hmm, perhaps I don't want to know if it hurts!!!

Any advice/previous experiences would be appreciated

axxx

my 34 week breech had turned by 36 weeks on her own - without me even noticing! We did do the accupressure twiddling little toe thing to see if that would help - Google it!! - and it either helped or she decided to turn on her own. Worth a try!! good luck!

mine was breech until 35 weeks.
she was born head down.

it's unusual for a baby to stay breech at birth (less than 1%), but they will keep an eye on it and keep you up-to-date with it.

these days they normally recommend c-section for a breech birth, but there are external turning methods they can try first.

Thank you - I will try the accupressure thing:) SOOOO want to avoid a cs as have no one to help with aftercare and DH can only take week off - and got 2 year old who has to be entertained. Going to have a look at reflexology as well. again, thank you for your help

My dd turned at 37 weeks. I did lots of swimming and crawling around on the floor and washing the skirting boards! I also took a homeopathic remedy called pulsatilla but got advice from a registered homeopath. I think she did turn the day I took it as I have massive movement, but I do understand that not everyone believs in homepathic medicine!

They were going to try and turn her but on the scan it showed she had managed it herself. Some babies can't turn so they don't and therefore a c section is considered safest in first births and they will concider letting you breach birth if it's not your first if that is what you decide and your are healthy enough but they still say CS is safer.
That was the advice I was given when I saw the consultant, as it turned out it was all fine anyway.

Hi. Like you, DD1 was a normal "text book" delivery. DD2 however was breech, I tried everything to turn her including the ECV but no luck. It was painful, but because I'd had such a text book birth with DD1 I was desperate for the same experience.

In the end I had a EMCS as my waters broke at 37+5 and it was a wonderful experience!! Luckily we were joking and chatting all the way through the op (I tend to talk when nervous) and all really enjoyable. I was in pain for the first 24 hours afterwards, but it didn't matter as I had my beautiful little girl to stare and smile at. :)

Now pregnant with DC3 and going for a VBAC, but happy with whatever happens.

All I would say, is try what you can to get it to turn, but don't let it ruin the end of your pregnancy. I was terrified of a C-section and was distraught for the last couple of weeks after my failed ECV. Adrenaline kicked in when my waters broke though and I wasn't nervous at all and enjoyed every moment!!

Good luck and shout if you have any questions.

DC2 was breech and turned at 35 weeks - and I did nothing to try and turn her/encourag her to turn as was having ELCS anyway so it was immaterial really. Knew exactly when she turned though - felt really wierd :)

DS2 turned at 38weeks, little monster! Speedy delivery naturally in the end so all good! Acupuncture is a good option to make baby turn, you need 1 session with a good acupuncurist and they will teach you what to do at home. Never got to go for my session as he turned just before. As HYBRIDTHEORY says, its quite noticable when they do turn, kept me awake for 2 hours in the middle of the night kicking like crazy....now carrying DC3 at 34 weeks and this one is still wrong way up....
