Does everyone get this? I had it badly with DS in the last 6 weeks or so, but it wasn't so bad then as I'd just get up and potter then sleep in the day (early mat leave).

This time I'm working until 38 weeks and it started last night. 3am, painful ribs, painful hips, itchy-tired, brain in overdrive about what to wear when I'm let out of hospital (you know, the really important stuff). Oh and imaginary arguments with DH about imaginary things which he may or may not do, which got me all het up (this is a pg feature for me, too).

Tiiiiiiiiiired today :(

I'm going to get one of those cases for my kindle with a light in the hope that reading might help. Does anyone have any other good suggestions?

I had middle-of-the-night insomnia in first and third trimester. (I convinced myself there was an evolutionary advantage, to help me stay sane!)

I used to get up, get a drink, put the PC on to the read the Guardian and Independent websites from 03:00 to 05:00 every day, when I would go back to bed until 07:30ish.

I really didn't struggle too much with night feeds after that - I was used to being up!

I'm 35 weeks and wake up at 4am every morning without fail.. MN and FB are my best friends lol

ShellyBobbs · 11/04/2012 23:01

I a rubbish sleeper anyway, I'm only 9 weeks but don't think the pregnancy has any impact on my insomnia anyway.

I tend to buy houses that I know, completely re-arrange the structure and lay out and then sell them on for a massive profit, in my 'night life' I am an extremely successful property developer who laughs at Donald Trump! I am a fantastic day dreamer so I can just lie there for hours on end spinning out my fantasies, I've even finished with Brad Pitt because he's just too old for me now :)

ShellyBobbs · 11/04/2012 23:02

Oh yes, and the further along my pregnancies get, the more pillows are around and under me lol, by the time I get to full term there is barely room for hubby in bed :)

Newtothisstuff · 12/04/2012 05:07

I got into bed at 11pm and haven't been to sleep yet.. I've read a whole book.. Checked out MN and FB now I've just got up !!! Grrrrrrr this sucks !!! I can see me being very grumpy today Angry

ipodtherforipoor · 12/04/2012 05:12

Angryme too, but I'm not pregnant,

newbielisa · 12/04/2012 05:36

I'm just 9 weeks, this morning is the first time DD has slept later than 5am in months and I've been awake since 4.15 "waiting" for her to wake up. I'm waking briefly probably every couple of hours as well.

AnEcumenicalMatter · 12/04/2012 05:38

I've never had trouble sleeping until I got pregnant. Insomnia kicked in immediately and lasted up to about 17 weeks. Then I went on holiday followed by a period of illness which seemed to 'cure' the insomnia. Or the cure could just have been second trimester related. 30 weeks now and it seems to be back

luckysocks · 12/04/2012 15:16

I'm glad it's not just me - in a sympathetic sort of way, obviously Wink

I'm usually the sort of person who could drop off more or less anywhere, anytime - I love my sleep. So I find it really unnerving!

Springforward did you really find that it helped with night feeds? There was something about the reverse psychology and the bf hormones for me... knowing that I was desperately tired but couldn't go back to sleep was like torture and the 4am feeds nearly killed me. Despite having been up and surfing the internet at that time for weeks beforehand Hmm

DH isn't a very good sleeper on the whole, so if I start wriggling around I can hear him huffing and sighing which just irritates me and adds fuel to the imaginary arguments!

Yes, honestly. Once DS was here, firstly I was so utterly besotted with him that I was just grateful to have him here, and secondly, even if he had me up in the night two or three times at least I knew that I would actually go back to sleep the second my head hit the pillow!

I did used to sleep when he slept in the day, though. And at 6 weeks, I spent a weekend in bed catching up on all the lost sleep, with DH bringing DS to me to feed then taking him away again....

Insomnia is horrible - I used to look out of the window and be jealous of all the people asleep in their houses while I was up with the light on, cursing my DH for being able to sleep (I did resist the urge to poke him, however - just).

ShellyBobbs · 16/04/2012 14:26

Well I've just done a weekend of double shifts. Friday night = no sleep, 12 hours in work on Saturday = a whole night of uninterrupted sleep for me Grin Although last night I only managed about 4 hours, but better than nowt!
